True, but the invective against Hillary has been quite clearly gender-coded. If major pubs had been using racial slurs against Obama as freely as they were using sexist language against Hillary, there would have been hell to pay.

Last year, I sent my mom roses, because, let's face it -- she's 62 and has everything she needs (and my stepdad always buys her jewelry, so there's no point in me buying her earrings). She LOVED them. So that's what I'm sticking with.

Though I'm sure we'll have brunch/lunch/some sort of meal on Sunday.

Yeah, I am trying to avoid "stuff" gifts as much as possible. Half Price Books giftcard, because she goes there already and keeps a circle of recycling books going on and a charitable doantion. The brother sent flowers. Grandma/GG is getting chocolates, which at 93 is what she gets every holiday from me and mac. If I live to be 93, I fully expect everyone to give me my favorite sweet at every ocassion.

I know. Most of me thinks that an Obama/Clinton ticket would be great (although I'd really rather see Obama/Edwards), but that small part of me, the part that was raised on "I Am Woman" and Betty Friedan, thinks that Clinton as VP would be settling, and damn it, I am so sick and fucking tired of seeing brilliant woman *settle,* when they should be running the goddamn joint.

Truly. We are of the same mind. Even on the preferred ticket.

There is so much I'm sick of in American politics...politics in general, beyond its function to sort out the truly, hurtfully crazy who might aspire to leadership...that my heart feels like lead.

Obama's tagline, Change we can believe in, is all I've been asking for in the 25 years that I have been politically active. I'm feeling like that reality is hiding out with my promised, and yet undelivered flying car.

I'm having the family over for brunch for Mother's Day. The workmen are (FINALLY) here, fixing random shit so that there aren't holes in my walls, and the bedroom door closes.

Bah. I just had a long post about how pointless the racism v sexism debate is, and the interbunny ate it.
