Zoe: Yeah? Thought you'd get land crazy that long in port. Wash: Probably, but I've been sane a long while now, and change is good.

Punishingly Intricate

46. Tell a woman's dress size.

Man, I can't even do this with myself. I'd like to see the man who can...I'd hire him to shop for me!

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

46. Tell a woman's dress size.

7¾, right?

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

any number of designers, stylists, or men who work in the modelling agencies could do that.

Our wings are not tired

46. Tell a woman's dress size.

Oh wait...I was using the metric system. My bad.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

So Book Expo is next month here in LA. I need to register. Anyone wanna go with me?

Is this one that gives you free books? Someone at school mentioned some upcoming event at which you can get lots of loot. She thought it'd be good for my juvie hall friends.

Apparently Botox doesn't fix migraines. Well, it didn't work on me, but I do know people it seemed to be magical for

Yeha, I know people it's worked for too--and that "study" was just looking at other studies! I want to see the results of an actual double-blind trial!

I cannot tell a woman's dress size at all. I'm always curious, though--because I know my own image of my body is messed up, so I would love to see lots of other women my height and sizes smaller and bigger so I can compare.

Seriously.

The size guessing thing was a staple of the kind of trashy Harlequins we were talking about in lit recently, IIRC. No idea why, but clearly it's a thing.

It most certainly is! I haven't been to a BEA since 2001, but in the three years that I attended, I averaged about 175 free books each weekend. A lot of them ended up being brought into my full-time job and put out for people to pick up, others went to Goodwill, but I still got a lot of really good books for free. Also, a lot of them are signed by the authors--I've met Gary Sinise, Julie Andrews, Anthony Bourdain, Nora Roberts, Homer Hickam (the author/subject of October Sky/Rocket Boys), Rick Steves, astronaut Al Bean, as well as the usual attendees (Cathy Guisewhite of the "Cathy" cartoon, Roger Ebert, who I'm sure won't be there this year due to illness, and the ubiquitous Richard Simmons, who I never actually met, but he always had a coterie of older ladies lined up for his autograph).

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

Yeah, I'm definitely going, my publisher is supposed to send me a ticket, but I haven't heard anything.
