I loves me some Croce.
I forget - did you grow up near Chicago, aurelia? I wonder if Croce-love is still somewhat regional (i.e. is he still more popular around here?)
My aunt and uncle introduced me to the Croce love back in the '70s....
Somehow I got earwormed by "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" instead "Jim".
trudy, where is your tag from?
*In my own little head Pete Wentz crowd surfed to Journey in his girlfriend's semi-obscene t-shirt at the White House Correspondence Dinner Afterparty and Gerard Way said "Oh HELL no -- we need to do something cuter than that!" AND THEN THEY FREAKIN' DID

In my mind, those two songs are almost interchangeable. Sometimes I have to think a bit to remember it was Leory who was badder than a junkyard dog, and who had the custom Continental.
also, I am from upstate NY and love Croce.
and it is very hard to type on this qwerty phone keyboard now that I have reapplied fake nails
I saw Jim Croce live. It was actually to see Woody Allen's last comedy tour--he's already made four or five movies by then--Croce was the opener. My mom and dad had to drive my high school BF and me.
I grew up in central New Jersey, and for years, one house about two blocks from me had a poster of Jim Croce on their front door. We didn't move into that neighborhood until about two years after Croce died, but I always assumed it had been there since then.

From myself I'm afraid.
Packing this last week was so stressful that bandom babbling in LJ was my main source of happiness. First there was the Beat It video, then Pete crowd surfing... and then MCR dressed up in letterman jackets and put the guitarists in shorts for their Dallas show. Frank Iero in old man shorts was hysterical, Toro in short shorts was sublime.
I grew up in Kansas City, MO.
When I was 4 "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" was my favorite song. My family would to to a local pizza place that had a singer/guitarist on Wednesdays. I would always request that song and he'd always play it for me.
