I grew up in central New Jersey, and for years, one house about two blocks from me had a poster of Jim Croce on their front door. We didn't move into that neighborhood until about two years after Croce died, but I always assumed it had been there since then.

trudy, where is your tag from?
From myself I'm afraid.
Packing this last week was so stressful that bandom babbling in LJ was my main source of happiness. First there was the Beat It video, then Pete crowd surfing... and then MCR dressed up in letterman jackets and put the guitarists in shorts for their Dallas show. Frank Iero in old man shorts was hysterical, Toro in short shorts was sublime.
I grew up in Kansas City, MO.
When I was 4 "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" was my favorite song. My family would to to a local pizza place that had a singer/guitarist on Wednesdays. I would always request that song and he'd always play it for me.

Me too! My Dad would play it for me on the juke box at the Knights of Columbus.
I missed the MCR thing! I'll have to find it when. I am on a real computer.
I, too LOVED Bad, Bad Leroy brown as a 4ish year old. I don't remember when it came out.

D'aw. Cute.
I always mix up Jim Croce's father/son song and Cat Stevens' father/son song. I mean, not really mix them up, but I have to think which one I'm really thinking of and who goes with which.
Harry Chapin had a nice depressing father/son song.

Does Cat Stevens have a father/ son song or is it just that the Harry Chapin one is Cats in the Cradle?
Man. I wish the slash mark was more accesible on either the phone keyboard orthe handwriting f transcriber thing!
Harry Chapin is Cats in the Cradle. [link]
Apparently a lot of people think its Cat. He does have one called Father and Son (but its about a good father).
