Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm making tofu with spicy greens for dinner. The recipe is for tofu with watercress, but I got a bag of spicy greens at the farmers market, and I think it'll work well. Plus, I've got a package of tofu that's going to expire next week. Add some sauces and ginger and garlic and rice, and voila. Dinner.

Just realized I don't have paper towels. Maybe I can press the tofu without them.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Ooh, that sounds good, Hil.

Target trip went really well, I was not expecting that. I got several snack things for mac, he got 2 toys with a giftcard, and I got 2 organizey things for his existing toys (we are about to have a toy purge).

Now a friend is over for what I hope is a 2.5 or 3 hour playdate.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I've been sorting through my pantry and realized I've got close to half a gallon of dried split peas, plus nearly as much of various kinds of lentils. Considering that about a cup makes a pot of soup, I think I don't need to buy any more legumes for a while. (I've also got random bits of other sorts of dried beans, mostly black beans and kidney beans, but the lentils and split peas are a bit overwhelming.)

French women have sex 120 times per year.

Huh.

And I have just been informed that Swedes are the most previous of sexual partners @ 64% having had one night stands. I was going to guess Australians, and they come in at 60%, so I guess I would have been close.

This Manswers show is pretty base, but sometimes I need my low opinion of humanity shored up.

Wait, why did I get vertical again?

Hil, if you are feeling adventurous - lentils are the base for a couple of Ethiopian dishes.

Ooh, sounds fun. Actually, now that you mention it, I remember seeing a lentil and cauliflower Ethiopian recipe in one of my cookbooks, which I might make instead of the Indian lentil and cauliflower curry I was planning on for Tuesday. Need to check the recipe, though -- not sure what it needs besides lentils and cauliflower. I've been trying to expand my foods-from-other-countries repetoire beyond just Indian, Mexican, and Chinese.

I'm having a pita filled with hummus, taztziki, spring greens, cherry tomatoes and sliced chicken breast. TJs was a good idea. I also got thai noodles, a peanut satay sauce and stirfryable veggies. I also have (from an earlier trip to the grocery) stuff for pepper omelets, caesar salad...my stomach may manage not to die of boredom this week.

I also got more tealights, but that has nothing to do with my stomach.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

The Ethiopian restaurant I go to does a wonderful lentil dish that is the tastiest thing ever -- and generally I don't like lentils and other beanlike things. Get the chicken in the red hot sauce and the lentils in the milder yellow sauce, and lots of t'eff bread... yum!

I spent the day in programming class, and actually got my final project actually kind of working -- manipulating a web service that will give you theatre and movie listings for a given zip code into a format that lets you look up showings by theatre, movie, or showtime. The instructor seems very happy with me. :-)
