Now, I can hold a note for a long time...actually I can hold a note forever. But eventually that's just noise. It's the change we're listening for. The note coming after, and the one after that. That's what makes it music.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I found this which seems to be the end-all of the Curtis topless kerfuffle, and really? People cared? Don't get me wrong--I think she looks majorly hot, but why is that a big deal? There's no scandal there!

Then I read on...

"I've let my hair go gray. I wear only black and white. Every year I buy three or four black dresses that I just keep in rotation. I own one pair of blue jeans. I've given away all my jewelry, because I don't wear it," she says.

Huh. Wearing only black and white is an interesting choice. That I could never make. Same with the one pair of blue jeans. Does she just do laundry all the time?

Reminds me--reading magazines in doctor's offices yesterday morning they showed Ellen Barkin's taste in dresses--I forget the designer, but they showed her in four versions of exactly the same dress, just different colours. Nicely enough they were giving her props for knowing exactly what flattered her.

I am more creeped out by the incesty vibe than the topless young woman vibe

Ah, see, I'd read nothing about her father's direct involvement in the provocative (wow, it's hard for me not to type provocateuse there) photos. Just that the pictures were vetted on the spot.

Disney's having a hell of a time with its child stars. Course, this scandal is pretty mild, comparatively.

There's a robin building a nest right outside my window!

Now tagless for your comfort.

Goodnews is my router works ffine. Bad news is that my laptop may be toast. This post is courtesy of our PS3. If you think the iphone keys are tough to use, try a gaming controller.

Need a bluetooth keyboard stat.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Does she just do laundry all the time?

I read "I own one pair of blue jeans" as "not 20 different pairs", rather than as "I wear jeans every day (and they're always the same pair)".

Punishingly Intricate

There's a robin building a nest right outside my window!

OH! That reminds me that I saw my first dead baby bird of dead baby bird season this morning. Fallen from one of the two nests under my back porch awning. bummer.

er...not to gloom all over the happy robin story.

Cash, you can plug a USB keyboard into the PS3 -- cheaper and/or you might have a spare hanging around, if it's just for temporary use. "Typing" with a game controller is utter hell.

I think the "scandal" is ridiculous. I think it's partly media-manufactured, and partly mass hypocrisy - how many people let their 15 year olds, or their 12 year olds, wear makeup? How many people read fashion magazines, where many of the models are 15 and most of them got their start by 15 even if they are 19 now? I think the Cyrus family should have said, "We were working with a world-famous photographer and doing something creative; this is not meant to be a reflection of who Miley is." Miley is an actress (well, sort of, you know). Lots of 15 year old actresses have done much more risque stuff in films.

Cyrus's parents were at the shoot, including her dad Billy Ray who also posed for photographs with his 15-year-old daughter. Although Cyrus’s parents left before the controversial photograph – in which the singer is actually clothed but appears to be nude – was taken, her grandmother and her teacher were present.
