"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Allyson, congratulations on the moving. I hope you'll feel at home as soon as possible.

I accidentally switched off the snooze this morning, so I overslept for 40 minutes today. This is usually not me, and I can't recall the last time that happened. Nothing gets me out of the bed faster than that kind of heart attack. The second thing I did after realizing it is so late, was of course, accidentally hit my cell phone (which I use as my alarm clock) and send it under my bed, where I had to crawl, still blinded by morning, and look for it.

Other than this, kinda fun day.

Librarian Warlord

Congratulations, Allyson! May the new neighbors be normal, with a side of interesting.

I am donating my whole body to whoever wants it after I die.

Good for you Scrappy - I would suggest working out who earlier rather than later. When my MiL died, she'd always said she wanted this but made no arrangements herself. In the end, it was difficult for my DH to find a place to accept the body and then it couldn't be used and the ashes were returned to us soon after. My DH was left feeling somewhat like he'd failed her, although he'd done everything possible.

It is overcast and grey here today, but so far no rain. Which is a good thing when the dog needs to be walked.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The only open-casket funeral I've been to for a close family member was my step-grandmother. (Is that the right term? After my grandmother died, she and my grandfather were a couple, and the lived together from the time I was a toddler, but they never got married.) Traditional Jewish funerals are closed-casket.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Art Crawl!!!

I went to Artropolis yesterday! And had Japanese food for dinner! And all with a close friend I haven't seen in like, FOREVER. An excellent day and I am still sore from walking.

(Although the set up in the Merchandise Mart was much nicer than the set up at Navy Pier. I never did see it when it was at MacCormack Place.)

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Artropolis is a terrific name! I want to move there....

Your day beat mine five ways to Sunday.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I really have to eat something, but I have nothing in the house, and I can't figure out what I want. It's a problem.

BACON!!

I don't think I can get anyone to bring me sushi that is worth eating.

I ordered pizza, because it was easy.
