"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

ION I had to reassure my mother that I was not on the Red Line in Chinatown today.

I was at that stop just the other day for a concert, and I never take the Red Line that far south. And I can't quite figure out the geometry of how that even happened.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I saw one really high angle photo (probably from a helicopter) that looked more plausible than I could figure out otherwise. I don't quite get how the truck made it between the support pillars though.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

When I was 13 or something, I shaved off the whole front of my shin while shaving my legs

Yeah, I did that one too at about the same age.

I am so tired it's a bit surreal. I think I might actually go to bed.

ION I had to reassure my mother that I was not on the Red Line in Chinatown today.

this was really odd to me, since there is a red line in Chinatown in DC.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Wow, I didn't even hear about that until you guys brought it up here. Of course, I didn't leave the office anywhere close to "evening rush hour" so it wouldn't have affected me. Feh.

not your mom's socks.

got home from Brooklyn late last night - a good trip. Gorgeous day! Tom, I'm sad we didn't get to meet up (and everyone should know that Tom was incredibly patient with me and my multiple emails) - hope to catch you next time. I so love New York. As we drove in (Ver. Bridge), the harbor was chock full of boats - commerce, people! And as we left, there was a full-fledged cricket game going on in the square outside our building. love.

I only picked 2 small, language-based fights yesterday. This is good, given the context.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Why did I volunteer myself for helping a disorganized friend paint today? Because I felt so sorry for her (genuine) sob story, I guess. And I like helping, in general, but she's so disorganized that I end up grinding my teeth because it will be done in stupid ways that could be so much more efficient, and that she can't be gently argued out of, either.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Ugh.

I'm in Denver at a conference. Which I am presenting at but apparently not registered for. My flight landed at 12:25 AM, but we were trapped on the plane until 1:00 because they couldn't get the jetway to work right. This was especially troubling because my seat was directly across from the bathroom in the back. It was like sitting in the back of a Greyhound Bus.

The upside was I was able to get one of two cabs and get to the hotel. Which is a huge blessing.

I have a session to attend then lunch then I'm presenting then I'm going home. I miss home.
