[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Gus had decided to change the spelling of the family name to "Ostrom" because trying to get the a-umlaut pronunciation from the average American was driving him nuts, so he changed the spelling to approximate the pronunciation. Grandpa and Uncle Phillip, OTOH, decided to keep the spelling of "Astrom" and change the pronunciation to "Ah-strom". Problem is that people still screw it up and pronounce the A as in apple.

Heh. My friend Alison had a family member who immigrated from Russia and decided to change their much-too-Jewish surname to something more American. Thus they changed their name from Wolfe to Greenberg.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

School libraries sometimes like recent issues of things they cannot otherwise afford to subscribe to, and elementary schools sometimes like the ones with good pictures for art projects.

Not just elementary schools, but local middle schools will also be happy to get magazines! Or maybe that was just me.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Looks great, vw, but where is the "research orgasm" reaction shot?

No one got that. I think there was too much shock in the room.

My head started hurting like crazy last night and it's still hurting (though less) today. I don't want to take any medication for it, but is there something natural I can do? OW!

Cold compress at the back of the neck?

Caffeine?

...of course, I'm not one to avoid taking drugs if I"m in pain. Except the times that it doesn't occur to me to take drugs. Like, sometimes if I'm all muscle-achey and then hours later i'm all "Oh, I guess I could take painkiller and that would help, eh?"

That sounds nice, but I'm at work. I tried this thing I found online and it seemed to somewhat work! Press the indentation at the base of your skull and at the same time press on either side of your nose (near the eye socket) with your other hand. Increase the pressure on the eye sockets. Do it for 3 minutes. It might be in my head, but I do feel a little better. The tangerine I'm eating might also be helping.

ETA: Initial comment was to David's cold compress suggestion. I don't want to do caffeine either... Though I'd really love to!
