This is not funny. This... this is a morality tale about the evils of sake.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Big hugs for you and Byron.

And, you know, a big hug for Byron's poor wee leg. You did a good job for him for as long as you could. Rest easy, leg.

Best of luck for you and Byron, Kristin.

I just realized, I have a whole week of spring break stretched out in front of me, and no plans at all.

Well, one. I'm going bowling with the 4-H club.* But seriously, I didn't plan anything, and my ENTIRE FAMILY is out of the country. I'm starting to wonder if they're just trying to get away from me. There may be a DC trip sometime soon.

(*I'm not sure there will ever be a time when that stops being funny. Me and 4-H. I pledge my... crap, what the hell was it again? My hippo to higher service? My hepatic artery to... wait, I can't remember what I'm pledging to do, either!)

Kristin, over the course of Mr.Kitty's diabetes, I've spent more, even as my neighbor relies on medicare/welfare for her heart condition and that freaks me out. As fucked up as it is...it is. And oddly enough, my neighbor gets it too. She nags me to keep him healthy so she can see him once a week, and he's not her cat and she used to not like cats! Not much of a solace, but a bit of one.

Wishing you and yours the best.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Kristin, love, I burst into tears after the last time I successfully stuffed The Cat Daniel into his carrying box, because he was so baffled and scared and betrayed and distraut and it killed me that there was no way I could explain it to him. I'd be in fucking floods of tears in your place.

So glad the surgery went well, though!

And, hey, now you can call him The Dread Pirate Byron, and get him a little wooden leg and a miniature parrot for one shoulder!

t mememe

So we performed the second (final) night last night, and it went very well. The audience laughed lots, and random strangers came up and said I was good and bought me drinks! This was very nice! And there was no After Show Party, which was a damn shame, but a bunch of us went out clubbing anyway - and I don't DO clubbing. But still I ended up in various bars of increasing gayness as the evening went on, being plied with vodka and trying to explain to gyrating gay boys that really, dancing wasn't so much my niche - bookshops, yes, clubs, not so much. Until the critical mass of vodka had been reached, at which time I just flailed like a gleeful drunken person.

I feel very bad for venting about my director, because he IS lovely, and was terribly upset that he'd upset people. I'm really looking forward to starting rehearsals for Rumours on Sunday!

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Glad the surgery went well, Kristin.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

KT, glad the surgery went well. Speedy recovery~ma for Byron. And tons of {{{HUGS}}} for you. Let me know if you want a visitor this weekend for real hugs, comfort, and distraction? Or help with Byron? I dunno, but let me know.

In Me news. The date went ok, I guess. A nice Thai dinner. Good conversation. No uncomfy silence moments, but no forced conversation ones either. She liked the show. Didn't stick around for the party. She has a 17 mile hike tomorrow and needed to get home.

So the question I have. Her parting words: "I'll e-mail you about the show. If your visiting your friends in Pasadena, give me a call".

Is that good? Bad? It's not a "It was nice meeting you" Eh. Not sure. I figure tomorrow she'll be busy with the hike. So, Sunday she could do the e-mail? So If no e-mail, drop her one on Monday thanking her for the fun night?

Ugg. I'm so bad at all this courting dance stuff.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Fay, I'm glad your show went well, and you had a good time clubbing. You certainly deserve a chance to cut loose.

omnis, I'm glad your date went well. I'm not good at the courting dance either, so I'm afraid I cannot offer you any insights into what the woman is up to. It does sound good to me, dropping her an email on Monday.

Continued ~ma for Byron.

I don't know about any other Buffista households, but here there was a lot of cat-snuggling last night. I even picked up Sammie and snuggled her for all of 20 seconds. Which is about 10 seconds longer than she usually lets me. With Harvey, it wasn't that we snuggled him more. That would be damn near impossible without putting us on tube feedings and hooking us up to catheters. It was more that while snuggling him, I was extra conscious of it.

Librarian Warlord

Is that good?

Sure. I don't think she's "up to" anything, omnis -- I think she enjoyed the conversation and the fact that there weren't any awkward silences, and would like to have another. Give her a chance to email you about the show, like she said she would, and don't read anything into it if she doesn't get the chance right away.

Kristin, I'm glad the surgery went well. Recovery ~ma for both of you.

I am back at work, for another day of personnel files and a professor's RA who is working on cleaning up a brief he wrote due at the Supreme Ct tomorrow (the professor is out of the country).
