Spike's Bitches 40: Buckle Up, Kids! Daddy's Puttin' the Hammer Down.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Hello Kitty Sisters of Battle???!!!

Truly, it is the time of the apocalypse.

Some places do have drop boxes, but they're farther out of the way than I like (ie, I'm lazy). The biggest organization has the drop zone behind a fence because people would come in and dig through the donations before the place opened. Granted, some of those people were just looking to score free stuff, but it seems pretty small spirited to stop people who might need it from taking the things that are being donated to the needy.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

OK, I found one place that takes donations, after several rounds of websites with "We don't accept clothing donations, but this other place does" messages. I can get there on metro, I think. The Metro webpage says it's .21 miles from the U Street station.

I love cherry season. I have eaten three pounds of cherries in the last three days. I do believe I'll be turning into a cherry soon.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I have a friend who was working you and eating well and not losing weight . It was a thyroid problem, but she need the bigger more extensive test to prove it.

one of our friends has a way to help with stuff. figure out what you pay per square foot of space. figure out how much space your stuff ( meaning the clutter/ the might use /that stuff over there in the corner..) takes up. Would you pay for separate storage space, should you maybe get a sp0me storage space? If no -- get rid of it. And while he suspects we have too many books, he does recognizes that we want/need our books - so they aren't clutter.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I think it is actually a disorder, maybe hoarding
My mother has this. Those pictures could be her place. Last time I went to visit (xmas) she wouldn't allow me up to her apartment, we stayed in the rec room. The time before that, there was 1/2 the bed clear of stuff, and (1) cushion of the couch to sit at. The table, the kitchen, the recliner, EVERYWHERE was stacked with crap. My father is the opposite. he has a system, every year he goes through the house. If he hasn't used it in a year, it goes to the attic. Then he cleans the attic. If he hasn't retrieved it in a year, it goes to the other side of the attic. If that pile hasn't been used in a year, it gets tossed. In essence, it has 2 years to be used, or it's tossed. This was but one of the reasons they got divorced while I was very young.

Me? I'm half way in between. not a pack rat, but clutter. Mostly out of laziness. Which is why I'm trying to keep moving forward while I am in purge mode. I think I found a spot that PAYS for old gear and cables. Scrap recycler! Toss the 3 towers and 1 desktop and 1 laptop, toss the stack of drives, toss the old patchbay and corner of short lengths of multi-cables, toss the box of ADB and SCSI cables. And that should clear out a whole corner of my bedroom and 1/2 the closet! Whee!

Megan put it great over in Technology. It's not "how much I spent on this x years ago" it should be "how much would I spend on this today". I also like the "how much per square foot" that someone mentioned up thread.
