Spike's Bitches 40: Buckle Up, Kids! Daddy's Puttin' the Hammer Down.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Rough afternoon, Vortex. I hope tomorrow is a very unMondayish Monday.
I am amazed that no one died, Vortex. Those kinds of days are hard
Ah. This is 40 square meters (c 130 square feet). Ha. Your old place sounds palatial!
Oh dear. Our dining room is 210 sq. ft...15 x 14...
I'm going to try vinegar on my bathroom floor tomorrow.
(suddenly 600 sq ft apt doesn't feel so tiny)
My old apt., a one bedroom, was 475 sq ft. and while it was small, it was laid out well and didn't feel tiny. My new apt. is about 650 sq ft and feels huge compared to my old one. It's all relative, I suppose.
My NYC coop was 475. It was cool for me for six years. Our house is about 1300 sq. ft., with a backyard of 3,000 sq. feet. It feels gi-NOR-mous.
ION, I was going to go summer shoe hunting after working in the garden all day, but was too tired. Luckily, there is Zappos and I was able to slounge and shop (Shlop?) at the same time. Here they are: [link]
Turned in final homework assignment!!
I AM DONE!! Well, for two weeks anyway.
For those of you playing the home game, I knocked out 18 credit hours in 5 months. I ARE TIRED.
Fay, the apt. sounds loverly. It really is very nice. Compact, but the decor is lovely - teak furnishings, ornate carved wood, relief sculpture of Thai musicians filling the wall over my bed, all that jazz. And the 18th floor view over the glittering cityscape of downtown Bangkok is spectacular. I know plenty of people with bigger, sexier places (and of course plenty of people who own their own property and all that), but I'm very aware that I'm lucky to have this place, and I appreciate the hell out of it.
Fay, my hubby was wondering about Thailand. He visited many years ago, when he had access to military transport in the days when a young military dependent could hop on a plane and see the world. He remembers the slash and burn of farmers clearing their fields in the spring and was wondering if the country is still full of smoke every year at this time.
Er - I'm afraid I really don't have any occasion to go upcountry, so I couldn't tell you. Bangkok - not so much with the fields, burning or otherwise, and more with the skyscrapers. But it's neat that he's had these experiences! (I would say that the country has changed enormously in the interim, but it's entirely possible that farmers still do the slash'n'burn thing - just, not something I've encountered.)
Oh dear. Our dining room is 210 sq. ft...15 x 14...
Well, that's nice.

I guess I was trying to say I'm feeling guilty having all this space, while my friends are having to deal with much more restricted quarters.
I was incredibly lucky to get so much room, but it does have it's costs. A 100 mile RT drive to work for me, for one. Andi and I not living in close proximity of other Buffistas for another.
