Spike's Bitches 40: Buckle Up, Kids! Daddy's Puttin' the Hammer Down.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Those Truth commercials make me want to smoke out of spite.

Oh, AMEN.

And I have never been a smoker.

Did anyone else watch that Sandra Bullock movie, "28 Days", about rehab, way back when? I came out of it wanting to smoke and drink.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Okay, so my family drives me batty. I invited them over to my house for Mother's Day brunch. When I have an event, I usually start planning at least two weeks out. So, at my mother's birthday a few weeks ago, she says that she thinks that it's "too much", and I shouldn't take on such a huge deal. WHAT THE FUCK EVER. Like I've never had people over to my house before. I say, fine, it's mother's day, your choice. I cancel my grocery order, stop planning how to get everything done.

So, Thursday night, my dad calls and says "oh, we were wrong, we should let you have us over" I'm like "fuck, I need to get hopping." He says "but, we insist on helping" @@ Like I'm incapable of doing it by myself. I think, okay, let's do something easy. "Take me to Ikea to buy a new table". We work it out, he'll come pick me up after they get back from church. Church is over at 11:30, we'll be on the road by 1 at the latest. Back, put the table together, done by 3. I can run some other errands, go to my friend's pottery show.

Well, first, I don't hear from him until I call at 2PM. They've just gotten home. Through various fucking around, we don't end up on the road until 3:45. In the interim, my car won't start. don't know if it's the battery or the starter or what. fuck. but, dad's driving to Ikea and I was planning to take the metro to M's pottery show. I can still make it work.

then, we're driving to Ikea, when my dad calls my mom, who is talking about having people over for dinner. She then explains that I am one of the people. Apparently, by dad has told my mother that we are coming over for dinner after Ikea, and my bro and SIL are dropping off my niece and going to a movie, then coming over for dinner as well.

So, after we go to Ikea, we finally get back to my parents' house. then, my bro and SIL are late. then, my mother decides that my neice gets to watch another episode of Dora, so we can't leave yet. My cousin calls, and I don't know exactly what the deal is, but my mom starts bitching at my dad. I was like WTF? My cousin is spending the night, but said that she wasn't coming until tomorrow but is coming tonight. Now, my mom is pissed because she has to get ready for my cousin, but she had something else to do. She starts bitching about him not respecting her time. Fun! I finally got home at almost 10, then had to screw around trying to jump start my car. It apparently has some issue with the starter, because the battery is fine.

ARGH.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Rough afternoon, Vortex. I hope tomorrow is a very unMondayish Monday.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Ah. This is 40 square meters (c 130 square feet). Ha. Your old place sounds palatial!

Oh dear. Our dining room is 210 sq. ft...15 x 14...

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

(suddenly 600 sq ft apt doesn't feel so tiny)

My old apt., a one bedroom, was 475 sq ft. and while it was small, it was laid out well and didn't feel tiny. My new apt. is about 650 sq ft and feels huge compared to my old one. It's all relative, I suppose.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

My NYC coop was 475. It was cool for me for six years. Our house is about 1300 sq. ft., with a backyard of 3,000 sq. feet. It feels gi-NOR-mous.

ION, I was going to go summer shoe hunting after working in the garden all day, but was too tired. Luckily, there is Zappos and I was able to slounge and shop (Shlop?) at the same time. Here they are: [link]
