Back-reading mini-meara:
I read the hot new teenlit vampire sensation Twilight' a couple of months ago, and it just about made my head explode.
I also had this reaction. I read all three anyway, but I am utterly disgusted by the utter passivity of the heroine. The second two were better than the first, as Jilli said (and there's got to be something to them since I still bought and read the suckers), but I'm not proud of myself.
vw, I'm glad the webcast went well but sorry about asshat group member. Your Irish reader sound quite tasty, however.
Omnis, you are killing me. I am going to come breathe infection on you until you tell me WTF is going on!
sj, sounds like it was still pretty good despite minor annoyances, yes?
I am SO TIRED of being sick.
This, a thousand times this. I am sitting at my desk bundled into my winter jacket to fend off the chills. I waited too long to take the next dose of ibuprofen, apparently. I still have to stay for my tutoring student, but I got permission to stay home tomorrow since I'm so obviously sick. This is a very good thing. Sleep will most definitely be on tomorrow's menu to finally shake this thing.
Jilli, I hope you heal quickly and are no longer a poor wee sick!goth.
I hope the boys aren't too loud when you get home.
.....
The boys? What boys are at my house?
Kristin, the show was still excellent and worth every penny.
GF read
Twilight
recently and also hated it. She almost stopped reading mid-way through but finished so she could book talk it out at the juvie hall. They all love it. I think I'll pass.
Hey, Kristin, are you familiar with work on redefining literature by Susan Miller? She's been recommended to me, and I'm having trouble tracking her down.
I'm not, vw, and I did a quick JSTOR search and didn't find her. A search of the Literature Resource center turned up only Susan Miller, Figlin, who is a contemporary playwright. Did she publish articles in scholarly journals, or whole books devoted to the subject?
ION, my tutoree seems to have flaked on me. GRRR. I would have left at the beginning of 7th period if I had known. Dammit. I really need to have a short-notice cancellation fee.
Yeah, I'm coming up blank everywhere. I checked Project Muse too. I'm gonna have to e-mail adorable professor and ask him for a citation. Maybe I won't be so wibblable in e-mail.
I really need to have a short-notice cancellation fee.
Yes. You do.
Wow. Nothing makes me love Rock Band like playing Guitar Hero.
DH is home, has a head cold, hasn't slept in 26 hours, and needs to stay up a few more. Oh, and he got accosted by the KGB.
