We have potlucks - there are 8 of us and we bring food - for various holidays , birthdays , etc. But there is no singing. and honestly, it is for the food. Libraries run on their stomachs.

Spike's Bitches 40: Buckle Up, Kids! Daddy's Puttin' the Hammer Down.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
After all, if HR decides that the deskpounders have the right to have fun at work, can she deny you the same right?
Oooh! What would REALLY be fun is going over and punching each one in the back of the head! It won't be as loud as the desk-pounding, so SURELY it will be non-disruptive!
I lived in Maryland for 10 years and somehow completely managed to miss out on it's native cake.
Crabcake?
I lived in Maryland for 10 years and somehow completely managed to miss out on it's native cake.
I would love to try that cake and I so wish that the lovely woman quoted had not mentioned to the Gray Lady's reading public that her community does not lock their doors. Advertising a safe place makes it less safe! Or is that just me being paranoid?
Sorry - I should have said "dessert" so as not to confuse people about crabcake.
And I found a recipe.
Who has 10 cake pans though? Would the first two layers get stale while you baked the next 8?
Considering how far you have to drive, and that you have to take a ferry to the island, I"m not too worried about the community. Plus, not terribly wealthy, out there.
Sumi, did you go to the Eastern Shore much? Otherwise you really wouldn't have heard of it. I only have because my old roommate and good friend is from near there, so when we'd go visit for holidays, her mom sometimes had a Smith Island cake.
The HR manager is the one who thinks it's funny.
Oh joy. I can see why you'd hesitate to take the issue to the next level. Maybe the quiet guy in the corner who never complains about the desk pounding will show up with an uzi one day.
No, we didn't spend much time on the Eastern Shore.
