Spike's Bitches 40: Buckle Up, Kids! Daddy's Puttin' the Hammer Down.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I find the Grandma [LastName] thing so odd--like, very formal. Do other people not feel that way?

I don't think I addressed them with "Gramma Booth", I just called her Gramma and referred to her as Gramma Booth when clarity was needed.

(Though, on occassions when all the grands were present I probably addressed them as Gramma Booth and Gramma NotBooth, etc.)

o_a we took your advice and went out and listened to Tal on the web - 21? Imagine where she can go ...
I know! Hopefully she keeps her head clean, has good people guiding/helping her, and lots of inspiration. I've made sure her new tracks are on the iPhone so I can listen while I drive down to Peter Spragues studio tomorrow. Seems fitting so how. Listening to a great new jazz bassist while heading to a great jazz guitarists studio.

Also - anybody out there had experience of a weird, fizzy/crackly noise in their ear?

Yup, I'm pretty sure that when it happens to me it's water trapped in there from swimming or showering.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Fay, my ears have been "hissing" and occasionally "crackling" ever since I got over the Martian Death Flu about five weeks ago. A trip to the doctor, an expensive mondo AB, and an accupuncture session provided temporary relief, but I need to go back, or see someone else because they're still hissing, and it is interfering with my hearing. The wikipedia article does say "no permanent damage," though, and that is one thing I was concerned about. Annoying, even irritating, but not ultimately damaging.

My sole surviving grandparent was Grandmother. My parents were Gramma'n'Grampa, DH's parents are Babunya and Dydunyo.

My sister is moving offices today. From home office, to her first store-front one. Right in downtown Leesburg, FL. I hope the basket of flowers arrives right after she does and welcomes her nicely. Looks like this tax season she can work without kid running underfoot.

Water, or once I had a piece of hair up against my ear drum, but that was more of a pop noise, rather than crackly.

My grandmothers were referred to by where they lived -- they were Kingston Grandma and Bristol Grandma. I don't know how this started, and it doesn't seem like Sox called our mutual G'ma Kingston Grandma, so it's apparently an oddity of my own immediate family.

My sister's kids call my mother & father Grandma-with-the-doggie and Grandpa-with-the-doggie to distinguish them from my BiL's parents. Their oldest worked that out at some point when she was about 2 or 3.

Now to go check out the pictures...

Our wings are not tired.

I wish I knew what to say. I wish I could actually *do* something, but she's in Dallas and I am not. A card seems so completely useless.

I'm sorry, Ginger. What you just said is what you could write in a card. She would appreciate your contact.

This. And if you have a good memory of him, then include that, too. I think people like to hear that they aren't the only people who will remember and remain touched by their loved one's time here.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Cheers, fellow freaky-ear-having peeps! I'm not going to go see a doctor just yet, I think. (Oh, let it not be a small trapped beastie...)

Meanwhile - nom nom nom! I am chowing down on DIY Quick Chef's Salad, which in this instance comprises:

Assorted leaves
Generous portion of feta cheese
sliced smoked ham
leftover tuna/caper/chili/nori flake/mayo salad
pumpkin seeds
king prawns fried in coconut oil
fresh parsley

YUM!

I am contemplating making a super quick low carb peanut butter brownie as dessert, but may have no room.

Honestly, I would so sweep me off my feet and make me my wife! I am a Domestic Goddess! ....apart from ironing and cleaning and boring stuff. Um. But I make nice food out of whatever's in the cupboard, I do I do!
