Spike's Bitches 40: Buckle Up, Kids! Daddy's Puttin' the Hammer Down.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Do any of my lovely Bitches own a book that is a glossary of literary terms? I need a definition of "parable" that I can cite that is not from the Internet.
No - but Dictionary dot com does take various real paper dictionaries as its source, and cites each text individually, if that helps?
Hmmm...I'll jump over and see. That's one I didn't check.
Next question...is there a more specific word for "silently referenced"? The context is that there are passages from the Bible that are referred to in the piece, but not directly.
Er, implicitly referenced? Maybe?
Thanks, Fay. That probably does work, though they are still dictionary definitions rather than literary definitions. I may ask again if my it pings my adviser.
Anyone here?
I'm the only person awake in the house right now. For the past 8 hours or so, I've been dealing with some kind of 24-hour stomach bug or food poisoning. I think I maybe sorta am starting to feel better, and I was so thirsty I couldn't sleep, so I tiptoed downstairs and am very slowly sipping a glass of water to see if it will stay down. Ugh. Stupid stomach. I hope I'm recovered enough by tomorrow to go to the game.
Hm, I wonder if anything is on TV at 6:15 on a Sunday...
