[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

...the problem with sleeping all day and being awake very late on the west coast is that then EVERYONE is not posting. At least when i did this on the east coast, it was possible that some people out here were still awake, since it was earlier.

But I don't intend to stay up until the east coast morning crowd is up. If it were a weekday, that might only be another hour or so, but on a weekend, I'm expecting it would be later.

it might not have had anything to do with you, vw. A lot of people have no idea how to behave at weddings.

That’s true. Actually, people behaved pretty well, as a whole, at this wedding. It’s just weird seeing people you haven’t seen for five years…when that five years is probably the five years you’ve made the most positive changes in your life.

But you do, and that's the important thing. If they don't bother to ask how you're doing it's their loss.

True. Very true. One of my cousins’ husband asked, and that was part of the weirdness. He was like, “So how long has it been since you were in the hospital?” Can’t people just say, “So how are you doing?” And this was someone I used to be REALLY close to, because we lived very close. Oh, well. It’s in the past now.

And family gatherings with family you're rarely in touch with tend to be weird and awkward, IMHO. You can't treat them like ordinary strangers, because you're supposed to know them, and yet you don't, really.

Also very true. Thanks guys!

Except. Then comes the third movie, and the girl from the second one shows up as the coach in this one, and in her first scene, she mentions that she's just gotten divorced. The writers just screwed up their own franchise's happily-ever-after! And the happily ever after is pretty much the entire point of cheesy skating movies! Well, other than the snark and the cheesy skating, of course.

I KNOW! That annoyed me too.

I never managed to watch the third movie.

It actually just premiered a few weeks ago. Yes, I know this because I watched it that very night. I do love my cheesy skating movies!

meara, you still up?

So, rough night. We spent a lovely morning in the botanical gardens yesterday and got completely coated in pollen. Well, my allergies didn’t like that, which kicked in my asthma. So, I coughed till I puked twice and then just coughed most of the night. My poor brother, who shared a hotel room with me. Oh, well. I seem to be doing a little better now. Let’s hope it sticks.

Do any of my lovely Bitches own a book that is a glossary of literary terms? I need a definition of "parable" that I can cite that is not from the Internet.

No - but Dictionary dot com does take various real paper dictionaries as its source, and cites each text individually, if that helps?

Hmmm...I'll jump over and see. That's one I didn't check.

Next question...is there a more specific word for "silently referenced"? The context is that there are passages from the Bible that are referred to in the piece, but not directly.

Er, implicitly referenced? Maybe?
