Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace. And part of you is desperate to know: What's it like? Where does it lead you? And now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch you didn't throw or the kicks you didn't land. She really wanted it. Every Slayer has a death wish. Even you.

Punishingly Intricate

Went to hard, hot yoga this evening and now am sitting on couch trying to figure out if I should take a shower and go see friend's band. Or stay stinky and go to bed early. Am feeling a little bit like i'm getting a cold but am also feeling pretty energetic from the yoga.

Saturday is spin class, maybe more yoga at 4, drinks w/ friend who is moving to Cairo.

Sunday is bike ride if it's warm enough, walk/run if it is not. then I really, really want to see one of the Oscar noms that I've missed. Maybe There Will Be Blood . Then dinner with bandmate moving to NYC on Monday. Then maybe Oscar party at a bar.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

I just bought a variety of cupcakes for GF's b-day from Leda's [link] and do they ever look good! I got red velvet, carrot, chocolate chocolate chocolate, and dulce de leche. YUM!

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I have recently become addicted to the website in which people spend weeks/months fucking with online scammers.

It's sort of like fandom wank, only more trainwrecky.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Washcloths crack the baby up.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

How's this for some bullshit? Peapod:

We're sorry; our policies prohibit the delivery of products from our Wine & Spirits department on Sundays between 06:00 AM and 02:00 PM.

And naturally, all the other delivery times are sold out this weekend. Which, anyway, I'm half tempted to cancel the order on general principle.

Not javachik

OMG there is some kind of really loud machine doing god-knows-what-down the hall, and it stinks. This has been a spectacularly unproductive day (except for a nice lunch with consuela), which is to say, time to go home early to get away from the smell and noise.

Time to go home and get caught up on Jericho!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Comment in Cary Tennis' column on Salon:

I've noticed this: The guys who are afraid and nervous, it's about their dads. And the guys who are dramatic and needy, it's about their moms.

Is this general knowledge? Conventional Wisdom?

Obviously a generalization but does it ring true or run counter to personal experience?

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

If there's a better sound than a baby laughing, I don't know what it is.

Weekend plans: Write, sing in choir Sun. a.m., watch Oscars. Hope our laptop comes back from the mothership soon, because this whole sharing a computer thing just doesn't work, not with a web developer working on a freelance gig married to a writer who's feeling behind on her current manuscript.

Cutie gigglyhead D! Washcloths make our two giggle as well. Magic?

Oh, you people and your sharing of things like Etsy. [link] (it's cooler looking on the mannequin's neck, but it won't link directly to that one) Oh, dear. It comes in brass, too. [link]

Uh-huh. Because I need an octopus necklace? I mean, I don't, and I won't, but now I know it's there, and it looks so neat. And I think I'm about to waste a whole lot of time just browsing around. Man.
