Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Happy Birthday Amy and Annabel!

I just tried to order a bookcase from IKEA. The bookcase was $59.99. The shipping came to $295.17. That's a no. Just ordered a different one from Target, which has free shipping.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Eeek on the shipping... while IKEA furniture might be smart and stylish for its price, you might as well shop at Crate & Barrel for that kind of overall price.

I bought myself a book on Java programming so I need to sit down with it and see if it indeed clears up any of my problems....

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

IKEA shipping is pretty notoriously expensive. Before there was a store up in Frisco, people used to drive down to Houston to pick up their pre-ordered furniture.

Yeah, I don't have a car, a Zipcar would be at least $50 for the amount of time I'd need to get to IKEA and back, and I'm already begging friends with cars for a ride to Passover shopping, which is more of a priority than bookshelves right now. But shipping being several times the cost of the item is just ridiculous.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yeah, I took a Zipcar to Ikea once. Once. Still a lot cheaper than shipping, but just getting an actual rental car would cost less, and not be so stressful in terms of getting it back in time.

Yeah. Zipcar is pretty good for grocery shopping somewhere relatively within the neighborhood, but not so good for going out of the city.

We don't have zipcar which is another reason the "just tow the uninsureds' cars" people piss me off.
