Bon (and anyone else interested), the TiVo offer is here: [link]
It's not listed on the main purchase page, but the email offer said that you're welcome to forward it to your friends, which I figure I'm doing more efficiently this way...
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

No I did not.
With like a bajillion (or 50) cloves of garlic? No?
My brain is very fragile.
Okay. Off to sleep now.
I got the email too and was all "...ohhhhh! Lifetime subscription!"
Found out my tax refund today. bigger than I expected. like much. I actually thought I might pay this year. so, I guess I need to adjust some witholdings and get more cash in my paychecks.
Do it! Do it! I took advantage of their last offer (I refuse to pay attention to the numbers and see which is the better deal) and just knowing that every channel change will be precise is tremendous comfort. Then! Dual tuners!
Of course it's just occurred to me that they said that the HD TiVo would be able to use network-attached-storage. I should peek into that for bulking up my system.
Notes to anyone considering a lifetime subscription: that means lifetime of the machine, not the lifetime of you. If the machine breaks down after the warranty expires, that's it.
Supposedly. Mine broke after the warranty expired, and I called their support line, and they said that if I bought a new machine from them over the phone -- a refurbished one, the same model as my broken old one -- rather than buying a new one at a store or on their website, they could transfer the account over to the new machine, and I could keep the lifetime subscription. And then, after two refurbished ones in a row broke after less than a month, they sent me a brand-new dual-tuner 80-hour one for free (my old one, and the refurbished ones, had been single-tuner 40-hour.)
HA. without cable I cannot justify buying a new tivo. hell, I got what I have already for free.
I know my mention of taking the PSATS (I don't know if they still have those, for all I can remember, I took the regular SATs as a sophomore) prompted T to sign up for whatever version exists now.
She needs to take the PSAT and make sure that she checks the box to be considered for the National Achievement program. If she does well, it gets her on the radar for colleges. At Howard, if she becomes a finalist, she gets a full ride for four years (books, tuition, fees, housing, meal plan).
you first!
Well, let's wait for the tax return to come in. We have until 6/16.

which apparently is today, as I just checked the balance of my checking account.
Thanks guys. I was looking at my shitty cable box and I am now paying something like $10-12 a month, and I will soon have been doing that for 5 years. So it seems worth it to me, since I was thinking about tivo anyway, and Bob has an HD set in South Bend.
