"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

tommyrot, I'm sorry you had to get up so early. I hope you got a lot of coffee as comfort.

Theodosia - awesome dream! So much better than mine.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

I arrived at work this morning to discover that sometime between Friday and Monday, someone messed up my Slinky. Fortunately, it's a plastic Slinky, and those are much easier to untangle than the metal ones, but seriously, if you play with my Slinky and then mess it up, maybe you could not leave it on my desk looking sad and tangled.

so Sat I threw a frisbee for an hour. I is sore. sad old body (not that I think I am old, but my body is).

In better news I got a seat on the commute in and I knitted with listening to podcasts - AWESOME commute.

I just saw the Popemobile.

I wonder if I could use it to get to work on the 16th? Campus says we are not allowed to drive to work that day, but the Dean* says we have to work (just the law school, the rest of the campus has a holiday due to the Pope's visit on the 17th). I have yet to figure out how to get the puppy to her daycare and me to work that day without turning my commute into a 2 hour ordeal each way.

IOW, Monday has already put me in a bad mood.

  • note, the Dean walks to campus because she lives in the neighborhood, so this is not an issue for her.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Wow, Sparky, that sucks. When that happens at my uni (not the pope, but other things which require parking) at least they have a shuttle from some far away parking land.

Too many people are already on the calendar to be off that week, so I can't. (We all have use-it-or-lose-it vacation days to get in before May 1, so scheduling days off right now is a bear.)

I can't really believe that the faculty and students are going to make great efforts to show up that day if they can find a way to cancel classes -- people trying to get kids to day care, etc., what the heck are they supposed to do?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

What a PITA!

There's hardly anyone in my office today, because it's our big conference. And then most of the people who will be here are only now trickling in. I foresee not a lot getting done today.

Then Jesse, it is your job to entertain the rest of us.

I am fairly determined today to get 10 files off my desk, but I haven't even been able to start work on them because of nagging invoices.
