Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

the more beer a scientist drinks, the less likely the scientist is to publish a paper or to have a paper cited by another researcher

...that doesn't sound like the beer is making them smarter.

Socks are a running theme throughout the series. They are used as symbols of freedom, redemption and love.

Good morning, all. Hi Nilly, and welcome to Shir!

I'm #14 on WordSandwich!

I'm very impressed - I love the game, but I'm not racking up the high scores. I'm also getting bored with the words I'm using to narrow down the range, but using other words will slow me down. A tragic dilemma.

Yeah. The less caffeine a Buffista poster consumes, the more likely he is to misread an article.

brenda! Amy! Ouise! Goodness, I've missed posting with you guys.

Jessica! Happy birthday-of-your-DH!

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a tired Buffista in possession of a reading comprehension difficulty must be in want of a coffee.

Punishingly Intricate

Interestingly (to me anyway) the Obama speach story on the front page of the Sun was not as big as the verdict delivered in juvenile court on a group of black kids who beat up a white woman on a bus in my neighborhood (and both were smaller than almighty college basketball). [link]

A woman in my friend's sociology class claimed that the story the prosecuteres were telling couldn't possibly be true because children could never be that vicious.

One of the prosecuting attorneys was the state's attorney on the stupid, stupid drug case on which I was an alternate jury member last year. Baltimore, it's a small town. (I also recently overheard a conversation about the woman who was beaten up: [link]
