not your mom's socks.

Well, it stinks of paint thinner. My throat is burning.

can you get out for a couple of hours? So you don't get a headache?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

That's how I like it, too, Kathy. Lots of corn oil.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Ugh. I thought I was getting over the flu. The last couple of days I felt much better. Today I'm shivery and lightheaded and have no appetite.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Ugh. (total xpost on the double ugh) I'm back from baseball practice. Only six kids out of twelve showed up, so I wound up throwing a ton of batting practice. I probably threw 45 pitches per kid, except for Cole who I threw 60 to. (Cole is a batting practice slut, but it's tough to decline his enthusiasm.)

As a reward for throwing all that batting practice Cole showed his gratitude by hitting a hard liner off my big toe which (whitefonted for the squeamish) ripped my toenail down one side. It was bloody and throbbing.

Also, JZ has a cold and sore throat and the baby is fussy and Emmett had a bad attitude at practice.

However, I do have Orville Redenbacher popcorn so maybe that's what we'll have tonight.

Euagh!! That last thing really would freak me out, Hec!!

I have acquired mucinex and cough drops and tea and honey, and comfort food (mac and cheese, at the moment....may try and get pho later). Want crazy feeling in my chest to go away.

We had the landlady set traps a month or so ago and they went away for a while but now they're back and getting bolder.

So I'm hobbling down to the hardware store to get some sticky traps. (Can't really have snappy traps in the same house with a toddler and frankly I don't like to hear that sound going off in the night.)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Man, this has been hands-down the worst cold and flu season I can remember. Between having my own personal germ factory (thanks, daycare!) and the flu shot having missed a strain, I've been sick almost every weekend since the fall.

Today the plague has moved decidedly into my chest. I want it to LEAVE.

Art Crawl!!!

Yikes!

At least you've got the popcorn.

I opened a couple of windows - to get a nice crossbreeze and it's much, much better. (I also opened the back door - it leads to a common stairwell, and I hope that is also helping.)

I'm hoping it will clear out enough that it won't be nasty when it gets cooler after sundown.

I bought a quart of chicken soup from a deli on Tuesday. It's been in the fridge since then. Think it's still good?

It's still good, Aurelia. Get better!

I've been sick almost every weekend since the fall.

That's what it was like for Emmett's toddler years. And then he changed daycares and we got a whole new germ pool.

On the plus side, I hardly ever get sick because I've gotten just about every freakin' minor cold you can have if you live in NorCal. JZ and Emmett have both gotten much more sick from Matilda than I have this last year. Emmett's missed more school days this year than he's ever missed before, though some were unrelated to Matilda. (Like his earache.)
