AAAAAGH. I may yet kill this recruiter.
He is annoying the crap out of me, calling and emailing. I have a phone interview with the people tomorrow, and he's sending me oh ONE MORE form, and Oh, he needs me to GO TO THE DMV and get my driving record because Washington state won't give it as part of a background check? And I point out I've only had a WA license since January, but that doesn't matter, I have to GO TO THE DMV. And when I ask how quickly I need to do that (like, buster, they haven't fuckin' HIRED me yet--that'll be a few weeks at least), he's like "It would've been great to have it today". And then has the GALL to suggest that I should postpone plans to "have a mojito" in the afternoon to go there. WTF, jackass???
Kathy, I was wondering if that post was purposeful.
I am sad to hear that about Swayze. Reading that article I hadn't known he was stil working. Cool.
I've been meandering through flickr looking at other people's photos, and I've fallen in love with Franca Alejandra's. She makes every day of her year an event. Marvellous.
Why do they need your driving record? That seems odd. And seriously, a background check won't find that? Also - odd.
The job would require a fair bit of driving, and apparently normally the background check signature allows the DMV to release that, but WA State won't, and requires the person whose driving record it is go to the DMV. RIDICULOUS.
Even better. I just checked the WA State website. They can TOTALLY request it on their own, if I sign a form. He just doesn't want to wait, I think. It's a mail in request, and i can get it quicker if I go in person. Except that requires me to GO TO THE DMV, and I avoid that at all costs. Fucker.
I just emailed him and pointed him to the website and copied the relevant "prospective employer" section. And pointed out that since the phone interview is tomorrow, and I would still need an in-person interview, surely that would take some time.
GRRRRR.
Bwah! Sarah Polley got fugged wearing my boots!

Hey, speaking of earworms...
NPR is doing a story on them. "The songs you can't get out of your head" blah blah blah. And they're referencing the term "earworm" in the title of the piece.
...
Didn't we (meaning Buffistas) originate the term? I seem to recall watching it evolve long ago amongst this group. There was a "Wrath of Khan" reference...?
If so...we are made of Culturally Significant Awesome.
Didn't we (meaning Buffistas) originate the term?
Oh, no, I don't think we can claim credit for this one.
