Oh gawd - this New Yorker Cartoon anti-caption cracked me up (the last Honorable mention): [link]

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
This paperwork makes no sense at all to me. I'm supposed to fill in a predrawn picture that looks nothing like the freeway.
Imagine my difficulty when I had to describe the time the deer jumped on my car on a similar form.
An hour a week to be loved and pampered and prettied, for free! There is no downside.
Laura, I heartily endorse this plan. You totally deserve it. Think of it as an investment in your continued sanity and not an indulgence.
Thank you to Hec and Ginger for the compliments. Though I still say, in any reality, that I'm short.
(Or the rude and clueless driving one encounters on the DC Beltway.)
I was just going to say this. More often than not, I'd rather drive in Italy than in the metro DC area.
Hugs to GC and her kitty. You deserve a break from the drama.
What are people doing this weekend?
Going to a dinner party at our neighbor's tomorrow, if DH doesn't get my ick. Sunday I think I'm going to mainline some more BSG.
What is the last thing that made you smile unexpectedly?
The cat chirping at the birds in the back yard. It never fails to amuse.
I have to be at work from 9:00am to 6:00pm tomorrow. I don't have to do anything, I just have to be here.
WTF, Tom? Can't they have someone else just be there?
Tonight I'm going to see MacBeth
Can I just say how very jealous I am? Jesse is bogarting the Stewart. Let the rest of the country have some....
I'm glad you're OK, Allyson. Insurance paperwork is the work of the devil.
Write "see attached description" in the space, and provide 100 pages if you want to. Also, embed a JPEG in your Word file. More is always better than less, when attempting to enforce reality on bureaucracy.
In other news, my new Firefox install (2.x) doesn't appear to understand that I have an old/narrow monitor. Irritating.
What are people doing this weekend?
tonight: no idea, maybe stretching while mac watches cartoons; maybe listing more on ebay; maybe finishing my taxes
Saturday: going to the Y; going to Target; maybe cooking some; maybe hemming some pants
Sunday: church; maybe a playdate with one of mac's friends; putting together outfits for the week
What is the last thing that made you smile unexpectedly?
mac calling his grandmother last night to tell her to punish me for being mean.
Can I just say how very jealous I am? Jesse is bogarting the Stewart. Let the rest of the country have some....
I'm jealous, too. I think we might need to road trip and get ourselves tickets for the Broadway run.
Work Related: Any Buffistas have access to the historical LA Times (e.g. a la Pro Quest?) I'm hoping find something in the 1960s.
I do, Sparky. What do you need?
Jesse, are you going to see the production with Patrick Stewart?
Tonight, our gym's daycare is doing a "date night." For $5, they will babysit from 6:30-9pm and we can leave the building to do whatever we want! Holy crap, what a deal! The kids will love it (they're showing a movie as well as a special craft activity, plus the usual gym toys, etc.)
P.S. I am paralyzed with jealousy about Jesse getting to see PS's Macbeth.
This weekend:
no plans , i think. My body seems to be trying o fight the ick -so possibly that will be my major activity.
last unexpected smile - yesterday was my last storytime for this session. -Two big smiles 1) one of my non-english speaking kids corrected me every page of the story " mY cat is the silliest cat in the world" in which the cat is really an elephant- almost every time I read cat she said "elephant!" 2) one of my kids ( not the one that had thrown up just before storytime , thank you very much) gave me a hug.
