Drat, so much for wanting to cook a turkey in 15 minutes inside a potter's kiln!
shrift, was the super-swanky restaurant you went for a meal at in Chicago Alinea?
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.

damn but dishes are expensive. I need to let the family know I am in need of a few more pieces of my pattern and let them start the ebay searches.
I thought Shrift went to Charlie Trotter's.
And look - I found my parent's china. (Actually stoneware. . .that they didn't get until the '80s.)
It was indeed Charlie Trotter's.
I'm getting distracted here, but isn't this a gorgeous chip-n-dip set?
Timelies all!
I'd take public transportation to work if it didn't cost more than driving. Stupid parking fees at the Metro stop....
Excitement! Our landlady (who lives next door) reports that at midday, 8 police cars showed up and went into the house of the Frat Boys Next Door. They exited with a man in handcuffs and leg shackles. Hmmm! They seem so mild-mannered next door - they seem like "drink some beers, play video games, and streak in the park at midnight" types. Do they shackle people they arrest on drug dealing charges? Cause that seems like the most likely thing...
Maybe they got into one of those crazy brawls frat boys are so prone to over some silly thing like, say, which one of them stole the daffodils, and it got all out of hand.
Or drugs. Could be the drugs.
That seems most likely to me too, flea, although maybe he threatened someone? Who knows.
I want new dishes one day. Right now we are using the dish set that my parents bought about 25 years ago. I keep saying we'll get them for our 10th anniversary. Need to wait until the kids are a bit bigger.
lo - though I wanted to go to the co-op, that will need to be another trip. I faffed and surfed until it was nearly time to pick up the sprog, then ran in quick to the medium-sized store. I wish co-op and school were still in the same direction. that would help.
but the good news? I got there, and I picked up sprog, and we came home, and it was good.
and I'm cooking something that involves layering dry pasta, chicken, 10 cloves of garlic, olives, onions, and mushrooms, leaved with parsley and basil, in a dutch oven for almost an hour. The recipe says 'when you smell the food, wait three minutes and then remove from the oven.' It will be good. I will it so.
