The Minearverse 6: Fiery Thread of Death

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath. Oh, and help us get Terriers dvds!

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

Bodoni & Futura are also faves for me

Oooh, Bodoni. Definitely. I like Futura, too.

I used to love Frutiger, mostly for the roundedness of the lower-case "round" characters (a, o, g, etc.), but we used it for a book project that took THREE YEARS, and I got a little sick of it, which is a shame, because it really does have a nice clean, elegant look.

I love when we start a new book project here, because our journals never change primary font; continuity is very important. Plus there's not a lot of room for madcap font fun with scientific journals. But we have more leeway with the books, and so Chatty!Co-worker and I will sit for hours and debate the merits of different fonts.

not your mom's socks.

lower-case "round" characters (a, o, g, etc.),

ok - so we're on visual-fetish letters? Mine are 'g' and 'W' I can hate a font if its 'g' doesn't swing me. And the W can't suck either. Yours?

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

I also have a fetish for the a. I like an open a, although I understand that the little arm on top helps distinguish it from an o. I also like a single tail g. The only font I've seen with both an open a and single tail g is Kabel, and it's too casual.

Did anyone here watch last night's Desperate Housewives? Because Nathan's entire storyline cracked me up. It seemed very Drive-esque.

I'll look at Century Gothic and think, I _could_ make it work. I know I could.

I love Century Gothic.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Did anyone here watch last night's Desperate Housewives?

I just finished watching it. I loved Nathan Fillion's character just taking the car from the guy that stopped to help him. It actually reminded me of something Mal would do rather something from Drive. Also, the fast forward at the end was interesting. I wonder if they're going to stick to it for all of next season? I feel bad that they'll have to recast all of Lynette's kids to do it though. Also, no Mike and Susan!
