'The Killer In Me'

The Minearverse 6: Fiery Thread of Death

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath. Oh, and help us get Terriers dvds!

So, even though I said I wouldn't, I did watch the premiere of AHS. I was underwhelmed. Nothing hit as hard as the first episode last year seeing Madame cut up her slaves in like minute two of the cold open. That said, Jessica Lange is still a wonder and this new character is a thing all its own and singing Life on Mars in enough spackled on turquoise glitter eyeshadow to choke a cow was everything. Frances Conroy still amuses me to no end. And Sarah Paulson is checking for that frikkin' Emmy this year or else. And it sure was pretty. But not scary at all. A little creepy, but even the clown wasn't scary. I knew he was going to kill those kids the minute he showed up and the fact that they didn't know and behave accordingly just made me want him to kill them. The stuff with keeping the kids in the cages might have more promise, but overall, I've seen better creepy clowns.

Eh, I'll still watch for a couple of episodes...at least until I see Three Boob Bassett.

So, I finally got my hands on the last season (4) of Nikita (long boring lazy story) and watched the second to last episode of season 3. I'm hard pressed to think of a villain I hate more than Amanda. Wow. After Percy and his own personal HRG guy, I thought they'd be hard pressed but I underestimated them.

Seriously, this shows bad guys you have to deal with day to day way better than Alias, IMO. I just can't watch the 3 finale tonight because I have too much to do tomorrow and I SERIOUSLY expect I will not want to not watch the season 4 premiere immediately after if I do.

Really love this show more than I ever expected, even from the kudos here. My bad.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I am SO glad Evan Peters is getting more screen time this season. He was wasted last year.

OK. watched the season 3 finale of Nikita and now I'm more like "how does she not expect them to keep on what they're doing? Why does leaving help anything?" A little to melodramatic, even for this show, but I'm still looking forward to what we get for a fourth season.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Patti Labelle on AHS! Nobody told me!

I had no idea either!

Dan thought it was Patti Lapone again, and he was all "PATTI Labelle!"

I was all, yeah, didn't you know?

Did anyone see footage of Jessica Lange breezing past Lea Michelle at the premiere red carpet? I'm normally not a big fan of celebrities treating others like annoyances at PR events, but the gifsets with captions like "No autographs." and "Security!" were priceless.

I hope Miss Patti gets some good screen time and it was fun to see her, but this season of AHS is really not grabbing me. It's not scary. Like even a little bit. If the creepy mama's boy can get the drop on the evil clown, than that man needs to up his homicidal clown game. And the reveal of what was under the clown mask was wholly expected. Yawn. I have not had an HSQ moment yet.

It's still awfully pretty. There's that.

Because books.

I'm loving this season of AHS! It's not scary the way the first or second season was, but we're also only two episodes in. And some of the stuff with the killer clown has been scary enough for me. I don't think jump scares are really the point with this show -- more slowly building creepy horror.

I think they really got this season right, if they stick with what they've started -- like they took the strongest elements of the first three seasons and finally put them together the right way. The "who's a freak" comparison between Dandy and the freak show inhabitants is a little on the nose, but the way they're shooting the Dandy and Gloria scenes is so gorgeously surreal, I love it.
