Patti Labelle on AHS! Nobody told me!
I had no idea either!
[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath. Oh, and help us get Terriers dvds!
Patti Labelle on AHS! Nobody told me!
I had no idea either!
Dan thought it was Patti Lapone again, and he was all "PATTI Labelle!"
I was all, yeah, didn't you know?
Did anyone see footage of Jessica Lange breezing past Lea Michelle at the premiere red carpet? I'm normally not a big fan of celebrities treating others like annoyances at PR events, but the gifsets with captions like "No autographs." and "Security!" were priceless.
I hope Miss Patti gets some good screen time and it was fun to see her, but this season of AHS is really not grabbing me. It's not scary. Like even a little bit. If the creepy mama's boy can get the drop on the evil clown, than that man needs to up his homicidal clown game. And the reveal of what was under the clown mask was wholly expected. Yawn. I have not had an HSQ moment yet.
It's still awfully pretty. There's that.
I'm loving this season of AHS! It's not scary the way the first or second season was, but we're also only two episodes in. And some of the stuff with the killer clown has been scary enough for me. I don't think jump scares are really the point with this show -- more slowly building creepy horror.
I think they really got this season right, if they stick with what they've started -- like they took the strongest elements of the first three seasons and finally put them together the right way. The "who's a freak" comparison between Dandy and the freak show inhabitants is a little on the nose, but the way they're shooting the Dandy and Gloria scenes is so gorgeously surreal, I love it.
I just started on the 4th abbreviated season of Nikita and OMG I love this show.
Side note - Birkohff is the only one who uses Niki (or some variant on that diminutive) as opposed to the full Nikita, right:? That's got to be plot point at some point. Also, isn't she the only one who calls him "nerd" as a matter of course, though she does use his real name at times?
I worry about Birkohff a lot. Him and his lady love seem the most vulnerable to me at this juncture in the series.
AHS: Oh, Elsa. Oh, everybody, really. The new characters are great -- I was surprised by the twist! And the Bette/Dot scecne was really horrifying. I keep waiting to have nightmares about Twisty, though.
Everything is working so well this season! ::knocks wood::
I guess that the story is more cohesive on AHS this season and yet I'm enjoying it way less than I did last season. I'm bored by Dandy. I really hope Francis Conroy kills him at some point because hers seems the more interesting character. And I really have no interest in seeing a love triangle between Esmeralda, Dot/Bette and Jimmy. Like at all.
That said, I am still enjoying the heck out of Jessica Lange. She just tears into everything. Kathy Bates is giving a really great performance as well, once you get past the accent. I wish they were giving Angela Basset more to do, but perhaps they will.
Given that I was so done with the show at the end of last season that I didn't even think I'd watch again, I suppose the fact that I'm still watching is a good sign. Still not scary at all, but I never really had a thing about clowns.
This week's episode was just pain on top of pain. And Matt Bomer was so great as Andy! Until, you know, Dandy showed up. Michael Chiklis really surprised me, too -- his Del was so believable with Andy, and so incredibly sad.
The one question I have is the doctor, who is pretty much perfectly understanding and patient in every way. He seems too perfect, you know? Although I guess maybe the point of it is how Del reacts to him, when he's actually a dream come true for Angela Bassett's character? Like, here's the answer to your wife's dreams, and you're going to take it away because of how it affects *you*.
