The Minearverse 6: Fiery Thread of Death

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath. Oh, and help us get Terriers dvds!

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Last season had just one or two too many threads, I think. I would have ditched the aliens, for sure.

Yes, the whole alien story felt like it should have been it's own season.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I'm not sure about less insane, but it definitely feels more cohesive and focused so far. Last season was just too all over the place for me.

I like cohesive and focused! With a dash of insanity here and there, for good measure.

It's focused insanity with a purpose. I definitely think I'm going to love this season.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Less insane? It's never taken me longer to watch an AHS episode. Beyond the (signature) OTT sexual violence there was also crazy racial violence and I also did a lot of looking away. If not for Angela's beauty I may never have seen the minotaur full on.

Even the amount of rape in the current day made it hard to stomach in one episode after so long off. I'm not sure if/how to warn my sister.

Because books.

The opening with Madame LaLaurie was a lot more graphic than I was prepared, even with this show, and the rape really took me by surprise. They definitely go all in every season, right from the start.

The minotaur thing is confusing me. Are we supposed to think that man was actually transformed into a minotaur?

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

It remains to be seen how the season stacks up, crazy-wise. I mean, not all that madness (npi) was in the first episode of last season, either. (Edit: Although I didn't watch the coming scenes...)

I'm just glad I finally remembered to watch this not right before bed.

I was disturbed by the extreme violence of the cold open but not surprised because I'd heard this show gets it on and cracking, but at least here in LA, the first broadcast was at 7:00 pm. I found that to be a little much. I'm all for parents controlling what their kids watch, but 7:00 is officially the family hour. I wouldn't want my pre-teen/early teenage kid to stumble across that show when surfing during what I thought was family time. It was a lot for 7:00.

That's the East Coast feed. The show airs at 10:00 PM.

Still. I was shocked. Maybe they should just not air the show that early out here? I don't even know if that's possible, and they did have a lot of parental warnings, but...I found that the most disturbing thing.

Also, I assumed dude was actually turned into a Minotaur, but I don't think they established it clearly either way. I wonder if he's still alive, too.
