Yeah, it's Halloween witchcraft at this point, not Wicca. So much for "And it harm none."
Maybe there'll be some explanation of the whole power structure. So far two/four of the new gen are murderers, the Supreme is insano-Where'sMaImmortalatah!-murderer, Madame Lalaurie is plain ol' evilcakes (and dude, WAY historically evilcakes, ugh, I've read a lot over the years). So far, I'm in Marie Leveau's court, despite the fact that voodoo and witchcraft are NOT synonymous.
But it ought to be fun!
Wait, they're using LaLaurie and Laveau? Shit, I may have to watch this.
Kathy Bates is Lalaurie; Angela Bassett is Laveau! Yep...
smonster, YES! Way over the top too.
From the descriptions, I was not sure I wanted to deal w/ S1. So I skipped it. Asylums give me the heebie jeebies so I was out for S2.

My usual comment: not all witches are Wiccan.
I cannot wait to start watching this. Whee!
I didn't know LaLaurie was a real person. Holy shit.

Oh yes. And fascinating to read about.
Madame LaLaurie is infamous. And Nicholas Cage did own her house for a while. I can't remember why -- when I was in New Orleans in August 2001, the house wasn't open for tours, which was a disappointment.
The thing about using "coven" and "witchcraft" as themes for this season -- even when Zoe, for instance, doesn't seem much like a witch to me -- is that any women's skills that threatened the natural order or men's authority have traditionally been lumped under "witchcraft" (more or less). So what I'm thinking is this season is really more simply about women's power and the ways they retake it.
Oh, yes. And quite horrible -- [link]
