She's looking for something a lot simpler-

She's going to make it herself and she's not sure she can handle lacework. The vintage part seemed important, so something that either is or looks vintage.
How is she at sizing up things?
I would still suggest the same magazines. There were kajillions of dresses in them.

I don't know about sizing up. I'll recommend that to Katy who runs the yarn shop.
I'd point the woman in the direction of where to search but she doesn't own a computer.
She might also consider merging a sweater and a skirt pattern. I know not everyone is comfortable playing fast and loose with patterns like I am, but, especially if you knit 1-piece top-down, you can try on as you go.
