The Minearverse 6: Fiery Thread of Death

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls, The Inside and Drive), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath. Oh, and help us get Terriers dvds!

The yum and caffeine combo of a good latte is not a little thing. Congrats, Kristen!

Also, Drive isn't available on DVD, is it? It's just streaming, right?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Hee. I am proud of our Kristen too. I wish it had gone longer (for us, too) but I am proud nonetheless.

Well I did make it to the yarn store. I was greeted by a very nice lady and her elderly student. (They teach!) It is a lovely store.

I bought size 8 bamboo circular needles, cream, black, and yellow worsted weight (is that what I mean?) wool/acrylic for the Penguins scarf and black and red cotton for the dishcloths. 32 bucks for the lot.

The nice lady tells me I should bring all my projects on the train so I can switch when I get bored. Hee. Dunno, that would mean another bag. Anyway, a good store.

Probably, judging by the size needles you bought and how it's usually worsted (or bulky) for non-lacy scarves.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I am safely ensconced on the train, in my little car. The SO is napping in the bunk above me and though the weather is mildly hinky, I do not have to worry about it. I have my knitting on my lap and the expansive New Mexico landscape rolling past my window.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Sounds wonderful, Liese.

That does sound lovely. I was planning a short train trip on an upcoming flight to NY, but, alas, airlines conspired to make it more expensive for me to fly part-way than to fly the whole way, so no train trip. I'll have to enjoy your trip vicariously, Liese, instead.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Oh, that sounds amazing. I love train trips and haven't taken one in a long time. I've never stayed in a sleeper car, but it sounds so relaxing.

Trust my rage

I rode the TransCanada Railway from Winnapeg to Banff as a child with my parents and is was very cool. It was really awesome to see so much country and also really fun for myself and my brother.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Liese, I'm envious. A pot of tea, a nice elderly woman companion, and you have all the elements for a cozy mystery.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

It is seriously fabulous. The sleeper is a roomette so it is tiny, but the door closes and drapes pull shut so it is really quiet. So an introvert like me is perfectly fine, despite the shared tables for meals. (Tomato & cheese on sourdough, pulled pork sandwich, salmon with asparagus & caper sauce) I begged off lunch and had them bring it to my car. Just had a shower and am now posting from bed. In Kansas.

Anyway! I am up to 70 rows on my scarf and doing well. Have not tried the circs yet but will tomorrow.
