Reed Diamond's character strikes me as very much not a good guy. He was abusing Echo, knowing she couldn't defend herself or remember it later.

Ah, but how much more satisfying was Echo's shoulder thump following on the heels of his smug dickery? I think that may have been my AHA! moment for this series, like the kick into the engine turbine or Darla showing her game face.

Too much sexing. I hope she doesn't have to be sold for sex every week. The framework I don't mind. But if she keeps being literally whored out, I lose interest.

I really liked Langton in this episode. I liked his arc a lot. And Reed Diamond's character is appropriately nasty--I can get behind that too. Eliza and Helo are the weak points for me.

Well, from the Promo, next week Echo is a bodyguard. But literal whoring is a big part of the premise. Being able to buy not just sex, not just a personality type and skill set, but someone who genuinely thinks themselves in love or has a serious crush/serious lust is the one of the few things the dollhouse offers a billionare can't buy elsewhere. Yeah its not real, but it goes beyond acting.

And Eliza was convincing this week. Then again, her character was a vulnerable badass.

I am completely uninterested in the idea of a blank slate being prepped for the best sex a man has ever had. I think it's unimaginative and doesn't bear repeating. Even if you flip the script and have it be a male whore, it holds no interest for me.

Next week Eliza's not just security. She's also a backup singer wearing one of the shortest skirts in the world.

I think that it's interesting that they seem to think that all guys want some sort of danger junkie girl. First week had Echo racing motorcycles, this week white water rafting.

I would ordinarily agree with you, but I think that the fact that they had sex, then he kicked her out to hunt her tells you something about the guy.

Again, the horrid things are the context of the show, not the subject. The subject is identity, and about whether it can be completely suppressed, erased or overwritten.

I mean, the premise has the capacity to become horribly offensive if week after week Echo is hired for sex, but that isn't what happens. They've done Echo as a 60 year old, Echo as a singer, Echo as a blind lady yadada.

So far we know of 4 of her missions. 3 of them involved falling for a guy. You tell me we get to see 60 year old Echo, but why should I stay around for that when the sex stuff alternately bores me or makes me want to spork people's eyes? What am I supposed to think if someone who hasn't ingested more of the show isn't around to try and mitigate it?

At least she got down the cliff facing the right direction, although with those boots on she shouldn't have gotten down at all.

I'm falling down on the believability here. I can accept the implausibility of the premise, but there's no good reason for a woman running for her life to randomly take off her shirt--especially when she's running through the woods. Among other things.

I did like Langton here, though: he was appropriately badass, and I was very pleased she ended up defending herself instead of needing to be rescued.
