You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

It is all still an experiment, but an experiment that hopefully pleases advertisers and viewers alike.

loads of about five minutes per hour, about half the usual.

Are commercials normally only ten minutes per hour? Cause I'd swear they were closer to twenty... Maybe they just seem that long...

Maybe they don't count show promos as "commercials". "This week on . . ." could easily take up another 3-5 minutes.

They may or not be counting local station breaks, also.

There are local commercials, network (national) commercials, and network promotions.

The plan is to cut the network commercials from 10 minutes down to 5 minutes, reduce the promos if possible, and leave local (affiliate) commercials alone.

That way an hour that would normally have 42-43 minutes of program would now have 48-50.

Yeah, this may cause syndication and international sales issues, but both shows have already been purchased for Canada, I believe.

The thought has crossed my mind that foreign broadcasters may cut Dollhouse so they can squeeze in more ads. Bit like what A&E did for MI5 (Spooks), I'm sure BBC America did it for Torchwood as well. But that's fun and games for next year. Right now I'm just enjoying a fandom that's just woken up after a 3 year nap.
