Kaylee: Captain seem a little funny to you at breakfast this morning? Wash: Come on, Kaylee. We all know I'm the funny one.

'Heart Of Gold'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

It might not even be unclear for us if we rewatch.

Which I'll do soon. But not just yet.

Just got caught up with the Boxed Set series (Eureka, Doctor Who, CoE), and DW was a nice refresher after CoE's darkness, wasn't it? Except for when the female UNIT head officer (nice to see her again, BTW) put her gun to Malcolm's head. Something I should have expected, but it was the only really dark moment in the show.

Eureka was as weak as y'all said upthread. Just...bleah. I much preferred ST:TNG's take on the phased people trying to communicate with the rest of the group.

Ann, that's a ferret.

The problem may be that Torchwood generally isn't a good vehicle for the Captain Jack character.

When he was introduced in Doctor Who, Captain Jack was a charming, happy-go-lucky intergalactic con man. That's the sort of supporting character that steals the show (Fonzie, Spike), not the person you want heading up a semi-secretive organization designed to save the Earth from alien threats.

That Captain Jack is simultaneously happy-go-lucky con man and so messed up is half the fun for me.

All is well that ends in pizza.

So his happy-go-lucky demeanor is a reaction to his life?

He's the Hawkeye Pierce of time agents.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

He's the Hawkeye Pierce of time agents.

So will we get an episode of Torchwood where Jack's head injury prompts him to make a half hour soliloquy on the wonder that is the human hand?

He'd probably go with some other body part.

Compassionately intolerant

He's the Hawkeye Pierce of time agents.

This is SO true!

I just ordered BSG 4.5 and CoE from Amazon. CoE is only $14.50, so it was worth it--I can now delete it from my dvr.
