Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Compassionately intolerant

That's my sense of it Ailleann.

I'm glad to see Robert Carlyle working, and Lou DP but it does look wildly derivative.

Yeah made that Torchwood post before I saw episode 4. They are not dead. They are in hell. I assumed dead until I read the spoilers. Don't know why "worse" did not occur to me. I do have one question from the earlier COE eps. How plausible is it that Jack was Ianto's first male lover? I got the impression that he was bisexual before he met Jack but I can't think of any strong canonical evidence.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

We're only shown him with Lisa beforehand. Nothing to contradict his word.

Well, not unless we count the previous RTD series where he appeared as a character with the same name...

Regardless of prior experience, I'm pretty strongly of the opinion that once you've actually fallen in love with someone of the same gender the Good Ship Heterosexuality has sailed and you've missed your boarding call.

That doesn't contradict anything Ianto or TB says.

After Elton Facebook recap of Day 4.

RTD says he [day 5 spoiler] always sort of knew Jack would kill his grandson but I swear he also said in his first submitted version of the script he did not and he was told to make it so.

I think I know where I got my impression. The "meet cute fighting monsters" scene at the end of season two seemed to show Ianto as very experienced in flirting with guys in a way that can be shrugged off if it does not take. But maybe it is the same technique he used with women, or maybe he's been at the other end of such flirting enough that he knew what to do. So still an impression, but really weak evidence.

On edit: oh and I love when sister has just promised to keep his affair quite, and husband comes up and in a big affectionate booming voice says: "so I hear you've been taking it up the ass". And then gives him a big hug.

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

The next (and last) Torchwood episode airs at the same time as the next Eureka episode, so it wouldn't work.

This move to Friday night is killing me. I was thinking, "Oh wow, poor people have to wait until Tuesday for the end."

No, Austin. Just until tonight. When Eureka also airs.
