Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Compassionately intolerant

I just watched the 100th episode of SG-1. Extreme Wormhole. Har.

In-jokes may be self-conscious, conceited and such, but I love 'em.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

after he got out of the big block of concrete.

I'm totally spoiled for the whole mini-series, and the whole Jack-reanimating-painfully-from-charred-bits, followed by the block of concrete thing seems like it's got to be massively disturbing to the psyche. (Of the viewer, I mean, though probably also for Jack.)

Yes? No? Because I want to watch it, but I also don't.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

If you're spoiled, I'd watch it, Steph.

My sister just got up through episode 4. Heh.

I thought I might rewatch on BBC America, but I'm just tuning in for the post show breakdowns. They are different from what aired in the Declassified.

If you're spoiled, I'd watch it, Steph.

It just seems so traumatic. But then, I guess, happy ending (for Jack, in the sense of getting out of the concrete) of the naked-ass sort, so, yeah.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

For those who saw it uncut and are rewatching on BBCA, did they cut much?

Our wings are not tired.

They felt the need to blur John Barrowman's ass. @@

I didn't get a chance to watch tonight so I reviewed my version to double check and make sure it wasn't blurred. The block of concrete scene really was outstanding.

Art Crawl!!!

Oh, BBCA is repeating the whole thing Sunday afternoon.

"What would it take to get your daughter to stop tweeting about this?"

Having watched COE, it's really interesting watching the reactions as they evolve with those seeing it for the first time.

Funny bits of Day 2 that I loved

  • "We want a pony. We want a pony"

  • Rhys offering to carry Gwen's bag (Pause while we all wait for the reaction to what appears to be a horrible mistake on his part) Then he explains so it frees up her trigger finger. LOVE Rhys!!

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I give Davies BIG points because he came up with the same solution I'd use for how to neutralize someone you absolutely can't kill: bury them in concrete.

Pity he had confederates to break him out, but still, it WAS a good plan.

(Plus now, we do get to make jokes about Captain Jack and the Big Block of Concrete, woot!)

Ann, that's a ferret.

I've seen about half of ep 1 so far but am spoiled to the extent of having read Buffista white-font. (Actually, on my computer, it shows up as a lovely shade of red. But I digress.)

I might give a password to a colleague in an emergency. But if it were someone on their first day on the job, I'd be more likely to log in, then let the co-worker do what they needed to do.

And Rhys put some pieces together for Gwen -- I like that the Civilian can actually be useful sometimes.
