A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
And
Ianto had to die because he never would have let Jack get away with that shit. And apparently to give Jack more angst. Whatever. Fuck Jack's angst.
God, I'm angry. I'm not sure I ever feel like a show I love has literally been destroyed while I was watching.
Hm. Maybe I'll skip watching this and allow myself to pretend it never happened.
I've only seen the first 10 minutes on youtube but I have to say...and I'm tempted to use a word I pretty much never say...but
Jack is wussiest of wussies
(okay, I couldn't bring myself to use the actual word)
in a way that pulls the rug out from under the entire series.
How could they do that? It just doesn't make any sense, unless they wanted to help us
grieve for the end of the show by making us not give a crap. Or worse, be glad it's over
.
From the comments,
I'm not sure I'll watch the rest.
Is the show over? I don't even know. Was this the swan song, or will there be another season?
I don't think that
Jack was in any way wussy--
in fact, I generally agree
with the call to sacrifice one versus millions. But that doesn't mean I want to see my heroes make it. It is nasty. They had to kill Ianto otherwise Jack couldn't have left. But they did NOT have to have Jack kill his grandson. There are other less awful things he could have done.
ZK I think
it has to be over. I don't want to see any more--because they've soured me on Jack, and because there's no team left.
Puts a different spin on John Barrowman's
complaining the show was done wrong by the five hour miniseries.
But that wasn't the real issue.
ita, I'm basing my use of the term
wuss on the first 5 minutes of tonight's episode when he seems to have just given up and given in.
My sense of Jack in previous incarnations is that
he'd keep fighting, even when it didn't make sense to do so.
I get that he has a lot
the not caring about other people's interests but, his SO getting killed and his family being threatened would have brought out the 'fuck you!' in him.
I'm perfectly willing to accept that view as personal, wishful thinking.
He
let's his grandson die?
Huh.
No, he didn't
let him die. He killed him. To save all the other kids. While perhaps the thing to do, not remotely heroic.
