Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Sciffy is messing with their Jericho repeat schedule:

03/14/2008 09:00 PM CROSSROADS
03/14/2008 10:00 PM RED FLAG
03/14/2008 11:00 PM VOX POPULI
03/21/2008 08:00 PM THE DAY BEFORE
03/21/2008 09:00 PM BLACK JACK
03/21/2008 10:00 PM HEART OF WINTER
03/21/2008 11:00 PM SEMPER FIDELIS
03/28/2008 08:00 PM WINTER'S END
03/28/2008 09:00 PM ONE MAN'S TERRORIST
They don't seem to have episodes 18-22 on their schedule.
Does it qualify for SF if it is a parallel universe? They could see the mountains west of Denver from the rooftops around the western Kansas town of Jericho in the pilot.
Whatsername (Carol Butler? oh, Carol Barbee) talked about this at WonderCon. They knew from the beginning that he was going to die because he was the highest authority in the Jericho, and he needed to be taken out so that Jake and Co. would be forced to rise to the challenge.
I wonder if this is the show being nice after the fact. GM was already out of power as Mayor and was just a town elder at the time of his death. He could have been written as part of Jake's company. I would appreciate it if I was McRaney. Better than Pamela Reed just disappearing.
Well, the cast has shrunk for reasons of $$.
I get this. I think trying to get more people watching was also a factor. That's why a different show came back than the one that was cancelled. I wasn't a fan of Emily either but most of the bad of that has stayed while losing the good. Ignore me, I'm just bitter about Bonnie.
ION, of things that do make me happy, there is a new SGA tonight. I'm hoping for softie Ronon.
I got the strong impression that that McRaney's character was killed off because he didn't want to do a second season.
Kristin of Watch With is feeling optimistic about a second season for SCC.
Does tonight's SGA seem overly expositiony to you guys?
That's a risk when you have Rodney narrate AND speak 75% of the face-to-face dialogue. Good Lord, I think the only thing I enjoyed in the entire hour was that brief space battle sequence with Carter's ship. Possibly because Hewlett had to shut up for a few seconds so we could hear the explosions.
I still liked Ronon and Todd going out in a suicide pact.
(Even more awesomecakes would have been Todd showing up at the deserted city 48,000 years later, to rescue Sheppard and send him back to put things right, when McKay's plan runs into more SNAFUs. Wraiths are long-lived, you know....)
I loved the Ronon and Todd bits. As someone said elsewhere, the look on Ronon's face when he realized he was going out with a Wraith by his side as an ally... priceless.
And, naturally, Sam taking out three Wraith ships in her farewell was cool.
But when something is so obviously going to be a reset, it loses impact. Somehow, when Jack, Sam, Teal'c and Daniel got stuck in the past in Egypt, it felt more solid... even learning how they died later on. Even though, I suppose in show terms, this reality was just as real. I guess. Time travel, timey-wimey, here's where I zone out.
OK, but as same someone said elsewhere (she should just post here, really), John coming back to save the day/timeline, and the result being the building collapsing in on them? Kind of hilarious.
It occurred to me that the McKay who did all that is going to be rather disappointed that his efforts to send Sheppard back will just result in his timeline diverging from the one that Sheppard returns to, and he'll live out the rest of his life with all the crappy stuff that motivated him having still happened.
