Mal: How come you didn't turn on me, Jayne? Jayne: Money wasn't good enough. Mal: What happens when it is? Jayne: Well... that'll be an interesting day.

'Serenity'

Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

The Kings discussion over how straight-and-narrow good decent characters are hard to write leading to a comparison to Bullock from Deadwood finally prompted me to watch.

Loving the show, but Bullock is flawed. Bullock has a temper. It just goes to show that David could have been written better. Shoot, Benton Fraser was the ultimate Dudley Do Right, and he was intriguing and fascinating. Different tone, of course. But Seth Bullock was morally upright and was still able to be a fascinating character, and even with his temper. But I don't think it's an apt comparison. Seth is world-weary and wise, he's seen a lot, been through a lot. David is naive and bland, and no matter what he's seen or been through, he remains up to this point naive and bland.

It's like he's not really connected to what he's seen and experienced, transcendent, but not in an illuminated way. He invokes his father's name when talking about Port Prosperity, what he and his brother died for, but then it means nothing to him to let his home go back to Gath and render his father's death "meaningless". His desire for peace transcending his ties to his family strike me as cold. I would loved to have seen more angst over this. More turmoil over what his position on the deal meant.

ION, Ian McShane is wonderful.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Okay, Jack Plotnick couldn't convince me he's a Jujitsu expert if he were in a Matrix movie and I watched Morpheus upload the training directly to his brain with my own eyes. Just, no.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Due South: The Ultimate Collection - Three Complete Seasons for $18.99. That is an insane price. Hell, the MSRP is only $40! Why is it so cheap?

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

The key to fanvids and many fanfic is to only look at what's been recced to you. Any points you may get for first discoverer--may not be worth it at all. Go to the show thread or the fanfic thread and ask around.

I know the moment has passed, but I feel this should be repeated very loudly.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Smallville:

A bit of a backslide o the eye-rolly Kryptonite plots, but at least we haven't seen it as much this season.

Really still sticking around for the semi-canon bits. The end scene with Lois and Clark and the phone booth reminded me of a bit of old school.

Speaking of old School, X-posted with Bitches:

I heard about this on NPR's Fresh Air on the way home:

Art Crawl!!!

I didn't understand why the meteor rock would help in your counterfeiting endeavors but I kind of liked the effect of the shiny green bills frozen in mid-air.
