A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
That could be fun too, I suppose.
Yeah. I thought about the acronym as I was typing it but was too lazy to come up with an alternative.
I dunno, three eps into Seeker and I'm about to give up anyway. The effects are nice and I like the Gandolfian wizard guy well enough but, yawn.
There is also a lot of 'hey, it's that guy!' going on. Mostly folks who played in LOTR and Xena. Nice that the NZers are getting work.
eta: Something that bugs is how hard the NZers are striving to not have accents. I love that accent. Why is it so unsalable?
I love that about Da Vinci's Inquest no hiding accents there, boy.
However, the show did specify sea caves, and I believe they had to wait for the tide so they could go exploring in them.
Yeah, Lake Superior has some nifty water-level caves in the Apostle Islands, but tides, nsm.
LotS is much better than Merlin both production and acting-wise.
Yeah, but to be fair, Merlin isn't exactly striving for greatness. It's striving to keep the same timeslot as Doctor Who and Robin Hood with family-friendly entertainment. I've been thinking of it as the BBC's version of Smallville.
Heh. A friend of mine just started
Doctor Who.
Like me, he had very little knowledge of the series going in. And he has gotten past "Dalek." His response:
I take back everything I may have ever said or thought about how Daleks look about as threatening as Captain Pike's chair.
OK, that bit in the BSG promos with Roslin screaming "I AM COMING FOR YOU ALL!" is probably the scariest thing I've seen all year.
Well, except for maybe the Addicted to Love Girls...
I take back everything I may have ever said or thought about how Daleks look about as threatening as Captain Pike's chair.
As much as I joke about how cheesy the villains on Doctor Who (especially Classic Who) can be, they really do a good job of making them (mostly) distinctive, not just another Generic Baddy. I just saw the BBCA showing of "The Sontaran Strategy" and "The Poison Sky," and I really love the honor-bound military hardasses that are the Sontarans.
It's the human villains that can get generic--the corporate money-grubber, the bratty genius kid, the military drone just following orders.
I just saw Dr. Who's Blink last night.
I fear that my next reaction to statues would be gazing them with horror in my eyes, mumbling "you don't understand, I have to look at them. They'll kill me if I won't".
I'm still freaked out, but they're very cool creatures.
Edit: someone will have to remind me not to post without having enough caffeine in me in the future.
Yes, stone angels: still scary.
That was easily one of the most freaktastic eps I've seen. I can't remember the last time I was so unbelievably creeped out.
I would so buy a weeping angel statue for my garden if I saw one on offer.
