Poking my head in for a quick Battlestar Galactica Question--
I am just watching the first season and am wondering why Sharon/Boomer is the only pilot with another person aboard-- does she fly a different type of ship, because I swear they keep calling it a raptor?
Also, did the original series have a) Caprica and b) the rest of the planets named after signs of the zodiac?
Short answer - yes and yes.
Starbuck, Apollo, etc fly Vipers, which are the BSG version of fighter jets.
Boomer is a Raptor pilot, which means she mainly flies scouting missions, and flies with a copilot/navigator on board. The Raptors can also carry cargo and passengers.
And the Colonies have always been named for the Zodiac signs.
Yes, on the planets named for the zodiac on the original.
I think Sharon is a raptor pilot. They are more transport and support ships than fighters. The fighter ships are called...uh,..something else.
Vipers! xposty save!
Thank you! I was hearing raptor and viper and conflating them for some reason
I can't keep them straight for the life of me. And what are the Cylon fighters called again?
Wings? Maybe. But there are bigger ships with another name. And the massive ones with yet another name. (So not helpful.)
I have no idea about the cyclon thingies.
I am also wondering if Cheif Tyrol should be my favorite...I just love him, and I feel bad that all the new pilots are his superiors!
