Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I assume Cedric Daniels on The Wire doesn't count? He's generally referred to as Daniels, rank preceding.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Yeah, this was definitely the best John episode so far. He wasn't bad last week, but he was mostly chasing after Cameron, and being a bit obvious about it.

However, I think Olympic hand-waving is always going to be in order with this show - this time over a military school hiring Derek for a temp job off-the-cuff.

Also, still LOVING Shirley Manson. She's not the most polished actress, but she has presence to spare (and that accent - insert Homer Simpson drool noise here).

Also, anybody else think Sarah and Cameron should start a day care?

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

She also has a tangent book series where the recurring setting is a Canadian Vampire Detective TV show that's like a mash-up of Forever Knight and Angel.

Seconding the Tanya Huff love. The Blood books are my favourite examples of this genre, and I like the Smoke spinoff even more. It cracks my shit up SO MUCH, reading about the goings on behind the scenes in a Vancouver TV production company, with the egos of the Lead Vampire Actor Guy, and the hot sidekick actor guy (who actually can act). Man, I loved the 3rd Smoke book beyond reason - in no small part because, OMG, fandom, yes, we really are like that. And of course there's the books' Big Gay Hero, Tony, whom I adore, and whose crush on Hot Sidekick Actor Guy had me at hello. Oh, those crazy kids. (After I'd wolfed my way through the 3rd Smoke book I found Huff's LJ and was all gushy at her. She was slightly bemused, but very pleasant, and seems lovely.)

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Huh. I gave up on Huff years ago because they just weren't doing it for me. But a Canadian Vampire Detective Show setting is like unto crack for me.

ION - there's a Daniels on Kyra Sedgewick's show too. (The Closer.) And wasn't there a Daniels on either Chicago Hope or that Saint Elsewhere? (Wait - was that the name of the actor?)

I really enjoyed my shows last night: SCC AND Chuck AND Heroes AND Life and even - Prison Break. But I thought that SCC more than made up for the lack of Derek last week. And I really liked how they ended with Cameron watching from the woods as Derek and John melt the 888.

BTW, whenever they say "triple 8" it totally sounds like they're saying triple A which is confusing. I wonder if not pronouncing the final t at all is a way to help make a Brit sound more American?

So, so happy that Bryce is back.

Compassionately intolerant

Canadian Vampire Detective Show setting is like unto crack for me.

On one hand, of course somebody would HAVE to do this. On the other? YAY!

And it turns out my library has them. I say again, YAY.
