Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon

A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

They were getting fans to write scripts at one point last year, which immediately made me think "Yeah, I'll never watch that".

This could explain a lot.

You know, I may have dreamt this, but I seem to recall finding a promo website for Sanctuary that had one of those 'decode the symbols to find out cool stuff!' games. I took way too much time breaking the code only to be treated to nothing more than the premiere date.

The thing is, the only reason I took the time was because I thought the show was being pitched at a Son of the Prophesy Movies themed thingie. Battling angels and such ala Hex which I found disappointing but infinitely better than Sanctuary.

Did I totally make that up or was the story retooled? Was the site for something else altogether? I'm mystified and not generally given to dementia when it comes to genre stuff.

t /proud geekery that should have ensured I never had sex in my lifetime

ION, I gave Merlin the old college try but, despite my appreciation of ASH, support for Fay's relation and a lifetime of ardor the all things Arthurian, plus liking the lead guy in his brief stint on DW, I just. can't. do. it.

Feeble. Bad, otherwise great, BBC. No biscuit.

I seriously never thought those classic tales could be ruined.

Arthurian legend? You have not seen any of the really awful movies out there based upon it? Astoundingly bad, some of them wasting real acting talent?

edit: which come to think of it, this apparently does as well.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

Hmmm, it seems that the first two (three, because of the 2-hour premiere)

Okay, I saw the 2-hour premiere of Sanctuary on Friday night ... was there another episode shown? I watched it from 9-11, and then it looked as though they were re-airing the same 2-hour movie. When did they show a third episode?

I thought it moved a bit slowly, and about the fifth time the young dude with glasses kept saying No, this really isn't part of my world view, and I'm not going to work here, I wanted to bitchslap him because obviously he's going to be joining up or we wouldn't be wasting so much screen time on him. And then I thought an awful lot got jammed into one (2-hour) segment... young immigrant boy with weird tentacle thing, the tour of the mansion, the kickass but smug hot blond daughter, all the backstories, and then oh, yeah, let's throw in the creepy villain who the doctor knew from way back (not sure if we are supposed to discuss spoilers or not). Speaking of the flashback, I was kind of hoping the doctor would have turned out to be the prostitute. Seems it would have made more of an interesting character study. But no.

Apparently the series started out as web based , most of consists of expanded remakes of existing webisodes with the same actors. (Or did they just shoot additional padding, er I mean additional footage?)

Also I gather the actual TV eps got leaked, so that some people have seen them.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

The premiere had most of the same actors as in the first webisode reprising their roles (thankfully excepting David Hewlett), but the scenes were reshot.

What did Hewlet play in the webisodes?

I saw David and thought he was okay, even though my McKay love has waned over the years.
