A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
What is this witchery?! How is it that SGA managed to make me not hate Woolsey at the very end? That, like, takes writing and stuff. Passingly decent writing. The hell? Stop the madness!!
At least I don't have to deal with floppy-ponytailed-Not!Sam anymore. Not that I was ever a fan of Sam, but her SGA incarnation was a total assassination.
Donna Noble, you rock. I love Martha Jones, but the pining was an issue. I think I may have a new favorite companion.
I did find Rose's reticence when asked by Donna if she's "ever...", concerning the Doctor verrrrry interesting.
Someone over at TwoP referred to a Who novel with a companion named Samantha Jones, which in light of that moment made me imagine Kim Cattrall having cosmos with friends and saying "Honey, hearts aren't the only thing he's got more than one of!"
I was bemused to realise that Kim Cattrall had (1) been involved with the lickable Alexander Siddig for a while and (2) played a vulcan on one of the
Trek
movies.
Jimmy McGovern has a thing for white dog shit, it would seem. Now I'm watcing
Life on Mars
and there's Sam Tyler kicking at it saying "takes me back".
I think the first time I saw Kim Cattral was in
Split Second
with Rutger Hauer, and then on Star Trek. So her SitC stint was weird and new to me.
I think I fell in love with Donna in the
Fires of Pompeii.
Since I haven't seen all the classic Who stuff, I can't speak to the future (of my likingness), but Donna is by far my favorite companion. I enjoyed Martha, I tolerated Rose, but I freaking love Donna. She brings both the funny and the pain in equal measure. She insists she's "just a temp from Chiswick", but I find her to be the strongest of the companions, because she rises above her fears every damn time, no matter what it costs her.
Rose joined the Doctor on a lark, looking to escape to adventure, not afraid of anything because like most teenagers they believe they're indestructable. Not looking to transform herself, just to have fun. She did become transformed, but that was expected. She was young and had a long way to go, anyway. Maturing is something you expected to happen to her and would have happened to her with or without the Doctor.
Martha joined the Doctor a little for adventure, because he appealed to her sense of responsibility and because she fell in love. She already knew exactly who she was and she could do it with or without the Doctor.
Donna...turned the Doctor down. She found his lifestyle too scary. Until she realized she couldn't live with mediocrity anymore and sought the Doctor out. She turned everything on its head and shook things up, most especially the Doctor. And yet, she keeps believing that, if anything makes her special, it is being the Doctor's companion because she's "just a temp from Chiswick." By the time of
Forest of the Dead
and
Turn Left
I knew there would never be any other companion for me than Donna.
Scifi earns most Emmy noms it ever has - nice for BSG and SGA but seriously, Tin Man? That's just not right.
but seriously, Tin Man?
I don't know. The scene where a character literally pulls flying monkeys out of her ass deserves some sort of award.
(laughing out loud)
it wasn't out of her ass though. Wasn't it out of her breasts?
