ooh thanks Tiggy! I try to mark when discussion starts but I think I missed that one.
'Shindig'
Boxed Set, Vol. V: Just a Hint of Denial and a Dash of Retcon
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I wonder if we could make use of the Nilly area to make links to the beginnings of the discussions of British airings of Who and TW.

That would be great!
I was rewatching the library two-parter of Doctor Who last night, and that got me mentally ranking first my favorite Doctors (both classic and revival), and then my favorite companions, which led me to try and figure out why I liked certain companions better than others. So, I've come up with four categories of companions:
1. The Always-Faithful Companion. Examples: Jo Grant, Sarah Jane Smith, Rose Tyler. Will always be there for the Doctor, come hell or high water.
2. The Yearning Companion. Examples: Liz Shaw, Turlogh, Martha Jones. Looking for something, hoping that the Doctor will provide it. Usually leave when they either get it or realize that the Doctor is not the answer they're looking for.
3. The Lost Soul Companion. Examples: Leela, Adric. Out of place even with the Doctor and they never fit in. (I never bought the idea that Leela would fit in on Gallifrey.)
4. The In Your Face Companion. Examples: Tegan Jovanka, Donna Noble. Will always call the Doctor on his BS.
My personal favorite type of companion is the final one, with Tegan being my favorite so far, mostly because she's the one who brought home to me what was explicitly stated in the first #9 ep ("Rose"), that "The Doctor's one constant companion is death." Tegan's reason for leaving #5 was because of all the death and destruction that surrounds him, and she didn't want to see any more of it.

Don't forget you can always scroll back in time two weeks with the date search below. Conversation pretty routinely starts Saturday afternoon.

Yeah I can never keep straight exactly how far behind SciFi is. no big!
I read over at Syfyportal that the Who finale is running 65 minutes. (I think that's w/o ads.) I bet it's going to be all chopped to bits when they run it in the US.
Oh, sad! I didn't know he was sick!
That is very sad. On the Twin Peaks DVDs there's an interview with him where I think he gives a little a tour of his workshop, and he seemed like an incredibly charming and interesting guy.
