Heh. I almost added "very Firefly-like" to my post.
Too much CGI for the budget?
That was my thought, too, although they did toss in that little line from Mick about fires not being a great idea on a spaceship.
A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Last night must have been Whedon tribute night on The CW, because The 100 had a very Buffy moment.
I think I even yelled at the screen "OMG! Did you learn nothing from Buffy?!"

Yeah, I was surprised & disappointed. Although not that surprised, because I know the actress got another job, but seriously, show. Bad show.
I did like the backstory we got, though: the ALIE storyline and the Grounder storyline are tying together in very interesting ways. We're going to get ALIE 1.0 and ALIE 2.0 fighting each other in the persons of Skaikru and Trikru.
So. Javi's tumblr: [link]
He's been retweeting a lot of the anger and commentary, as well.
If I had to speculate, I'd guess that he was told to kill the character in this episode (since AMC won't let her come back), and was aware of the Dead Lesbian Trope but unable to circumvent it. The blame should be on the producers rather than Javi.
That's my guess, anyway.
I haven't been following the show, but is my impression that this Rothernberg showrunner flounced off social media in a huff at being criticized accurate?
Yep, and Javi, who wrote the episode, has been bearing the brunt.
Ah well. Thankfully I took one look at the casting of Isaiah Washington before the series debuted and knew to avoid it like weaponized anthrax.
Belated "Legends of Tomorrow" comment: the wrong Time Agent resigned. I'll bet the "thinks outside the box" agent could have used Hawk Girl's memories to find out where Savage would be *before* he became immortal. Go in with the full team for overkill. An obscure priest who nobody ever heard of is killed. No Vandal Savage not only in Rip's time but no Vandal Savage mucking with history in all the preceding ages.
Also no Hawk Man or Hawk Girl. Given what most religions that believe in reincarnation say about it, no Hawk Couple would probably be better for them. That is reincarnation that consists of living the same lives over and over again, where your new life is always overwritten at some time by a life from thousands of years ago is spiritually and mystically unhealthy. Whatshername might have had something new to learn spiritually as a barista, that she won't be given time to learn now that she is back to the Hawk Girl role. Similarly I'm going to guess that she was not given time to learn everything her life as a Rosie the Riveter would have taught her.
Also Rip might never have been born. That would suck for him, but would be a great relief to the audience.
Man, Vandal Savage is getting less and less interesting, and I just don't like the actor at all.
