A topic for the discussion of Doctor Who, Arrow, and The Flash. Beware possible invasions of iZombie, Sleepy Hollow, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi, superhero, or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect adult content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Marvel superheroes are discussed over at the MCU thread.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
Yeah, the island stuff continues to be silly.
I will say a better way to tie the two plots together would have been to just have the military guys on the island have the Shadowspire patch and let the audience make the connection rather that having Commander Creepystare randomly show up in the Afghanistan flashback.
Though I imagine this connection wasn't thought up at the beginning of the season and was likely just thrown out there in the writer's room as a "Wouldn't it be cool if?"
Thanks. I know we've been told the guy's name several times but I can never remember it.
According to Gideon, they were in St. Roch, the New Orleans neighborhood, not Quebec.
I'd also love to know where their ship is supposedly parked near St. Roch in New Orleans.
Lolllllll, I don't even understand why they tried to shoehorn that into New Orleans. Is it because of Hawkgirl and the professor being African American? Because I'm pretty sure they were the only black people in this particular version of New Orleans. Also, why St. Roch? It's a fairly nondescript neighborhood. With zero grassy meadows or its own university, may I add.
I mean, when people appropriate and misunderstand New Orleans, there's like, a point. Nothing happened in this episode that couldn't be set in Minnesota or Tennessee or Vancouver. Unless they specifically wanted to give me an aneurysm?
I love Captain Cold and Sara hanging out. I was not a fan of the roofie, but was happy that it was called out a lot. Even by actual awful criminals. It's nice to see Arthur Darvill again.
Arrow - Amanda Waller! Yikes.
Flash - holy shit, I continue to love Harry so much.
While the actress never quite pulled off the legendary ruthless badassery I kept hearing about re. the comic book version of Waller, this... seemed like a sadly ignoble ending to a significant character.
Yes, it's an amazing character when played by someone with gravitas. CCH Pounder voiced her in the Batman series, and I'm looking forward to Viola Davis in Suicide Squad.
I was annoyed by this portrayal because she was 1) too young and 2) too pretty. Amanda Waller is supposed to be a woman in a position that you know that she only achieved by being meticulous and ruthless. This actress did not, could not do that.
LoT: YES! Please let the Hawkman stay dead, pretty please with a cherry on top. Also these people SUCK at doing anything low key.
The 100: !!! Monty's mom! LEXA! My brain has gone all Keanu.
I wish they could lose Hawkman somehow.
I wish for a million dollars. </Willow>
(Seriously, this is, like, the first time the TV PTB have ever granted me a wish.)
It's a shame they couldn't have Damien Darkh kill Vandal Savage and take over as the immortal villain.
Stein: Alpha particles are highly trackable.
Ray: Yet unheard of in the 1970's.
Me: [head explodes]
The alpha particle stuff was taking me right out of the story. They were discovered by Ernest Rutherford in 1899(!)(at ita's alma mater, btw). Won him a Nobel prize. One of his students, Hans Geiger, developed a way of detecting them, the Geiger counter, invented in 1928. Rutherford is one of the most famous physicists ever (they even named an element after him). No way Stein or Ray don't know that, and even Jax and Mick have probably heard of Geiger counters.
edit: Also, alpha particles are radioactivity. If Ray's suit is actively emitting them it's no wonder nobody's heard of him in the future. He's gonna die young (and glowing).
Saw the first 1.5 episodes of Legends of Tomorrow last night. I enjoyed the incongruity of "Love Will Keep Us Together" and the bar fight, although a jukebox in that type of bar would more likely have been playing Bad Company. Or maybe "Free Bird."

I think tv writers make things up and think they made them up. "Okay, let's call this macguffin...uh...what's a Greek letter? Alpha? That sounds science-y. We'll call it an alpha particle!"
